Syncing MPC 4000 to Ableton Issues etc..

Hello y'all been ages since I've been on here and I just wanted to say hello again and for anyone struggling with SYNC Issues trying to slave the 4000 to Ableton.
For many many years I was on ableton 9 using a simple MOTU Micro Lite with ableton and having no issues whatsoever by placing the settings as follows on SYNC page in MPC 4000 to get the 4000 to slave properly.
From main screen select SYNC turn on open window
select Midi Clock / Snc in channel 1 or 2 depending on where your midi in is placed
Sync Out settings according to your midi config.
Ableton settings will vary email me [email protected] as I do not know which version you have. The point of this post is that earlier versions of ableton allowed me to place the marker anyplace on abletons time line and the mpc would start up just fine. Meanwhile with the ableton 12 newest version this is not the case. After much frustration I've discovered that the Arturia Keystep works well to sync the MPC 4000 just fine from ableton and even though it will start up at any point in your song on ableton if you are controlling any SYNC 24 devices from ableton the only way to guarantee that all will sync properly is if you either start the song on ableton from the very beginning or carefully scroll across the songs timeline above the grid with the mouse and drop in a few seconds after the begiining of any bar. Again I know I'm probably confusing the hell out of you so just email me. I just wanted to let people know that the mighty 4000 can sync just fine from newest versions of ableton. Now I know many ask why would I even do this. Well if your an old school cat running 808s or 909s or keyboards and your MPC is mastering all of those with its rock solid Midi sync timing. Now you can Have abletom master the MPC in realtime while you then record all of your work into ableton at the same time.

I just saw your post on MPC Forums. My use case scenario is a bit different with an mpc2000xl syncing to BitwigStudio/Cubase. What I wanted to share is that Sunshine Jones has been posting about his issues trying to sync the Squarp Pyramid to the mpc4000. His solution was using the ER-M Multiclock:

"The E-RM Multiclock (now made by @floatingpoint_instruments) is just a clock. But there’s 5-pin midi in (and more) and the outs can be midi, din sync, audio pulse, or an LFO. It seems to be intended as a pre everything master clock, but I don’t like the restrictions of that in performance. So I lose the negative adjustments because I don’t want a 4 beat (one bar) delay before the clock starts. Live that just won’t ever work. But somehow it magically, perfectly, and effortlessly aligns the clock of the MPC 4000 without any settings at all. Just midi out of my main sequencer, into the Multiclock, and then on to the MPC and it’s just lovely. It also sends sync 24 to the TB-303.

What’s also fun is using the swing knob as a clock divider. This is how my clip here begins. First divided by 1/4 then by 1/2 and then 1/1 at different divisions for the MPC and the 303 at different times. Fun!"
