:Sigh: Cannot wait to try these oscillators! Here is the tubedigger walkthrough

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmm-7nR3psU?si=j7Y_JQx4L4Vl4jNa

Heaps of wavetables, single cycle oscillators that can be added to upto 8 layers in drumkits and keygroups, alongside any samples you want to bring to the mix. Factor the mod matrix and MPCe expressions (for drumkits) - this makes MPCs monsters for sound design.

Also
- independent time signatures in clips
- copy clip row to arranger
- enhanced copy/paste/insert/clear/merge workflow in the arranger.
- new filter types including Jura and Iona filters in keygroups.

Adjustable button brightness!!! (minimum still too bright)

Wow they actually added the filters i suggested. I was hoping for the mini d as well, but this is a start.

All the sound design gurus are going to have a field day with this. I'm excited. I guess the complaints about the MPC not being a proper synth are out of here.

I also like that they upgrade the arranger editing as well. A BIG step in the right direction.

very cool stuff. long ass start up time (live 2), but thats fine with me

Oscillators are wav files with changed extension, the header of the file is a valid RIFF/Wave so here are the specs:
Container: RIFF/WAVE
Format: PCM integer
Channels: Mono
Sample Rate: 44100
Bit Depth: 16bit
Data Size: 4096 bytes (2 bytes/sample)
Number of Samples: 2048samples
I've managed to load my own oscillators already - need more testing to find out if my number of samples is valid and therefore if pitch is correct

fun fact:
it seems that SINGLE CYCLES/CLASSIC OSC contains oscillators from AIR released and unreleased synths, which means we will find oscillators from Jura, Jupiter, Iona, Mini Moog, Moog poly (Memory Moog), Prophet, Andromeda, CS80 etc...

Wow...
Anybody that bought a MPC live 1 back in 2017 kept using it.... Just keeps Winning! :worthy:

DeepFrackin..VALUE.

My force I bought for around $450 used is the gift that keeps on giving that’s for sure

And I almost don’t want to say this in public, but I’m seeing used MPCX in the $600 range now which is insane I thought mine was a steal at $850 used i love the thing

But I’m guessing MPC4 will be the death knell for gen 1

I wonder how much of this is from Akai buying NI? That user base is where a lot of the house and techno community was until Ableton/Serum won the war and NI’s keygroup software is a lot better than what Akai has so now Akai is closing that gap some?

A gen 2 could possibly run a lightweight version of their Massive synth I hope (wavetable and crazy design possibilities, the big EDM soft synth until Serum got huge), that would get me to upgrade.

As it is all the current plug-ins will run on gen 1 or gen 2, which is probably holding them back. For example maybe they could make a polyphonic wavetable synth already but a gen 1 dual core cpu simply can’t handle it. This would make sense, because Sub Factory does a lot with a monophonic wavetable synth already. So that would mean mpc4 is right around the corner, and the new hot rod plug-ins won’t run on mpc3 and it’ll only be gen 2 only that runs MpC4 and the new generation of powerful standalone synths.

If true this also means there’s not much time left to iron out the remaining bugs in mpc3

anybody knows were can i get the mpc core oscillators expansion for the one+? some ytuvbers are showing this expansion that has preset keygroups for the new ocillator feature :(

Supposedly it’s in your activations page. You’ll have to have WiFi turned on and be logged in to your account.

I’m more excited to maybe use the oscillators in drum kits to make their own sounds, and to experiment with envelope followers from “ghost kicks” based on drum pads or layers. Using a ghost oscillator envelope on a drum pattern laid out in step sequencer could do a lot of work, same for taking advantage of all the cool existing MPC ways to ratchet and retrigger and do all sorts of fun stuff with the physical pads.

For example maybe you have a plug-in running synth pads or a bass drone on some track and you want to make it more interesting. Set up a layer or a drum pad on a drum track, have the sound of that not be sent to the mains, but use envelope followers from from whatever ruthm you did with that drum pad now do modulations on a different synth track. Sort of like the old school trance gates you’d trigger from a ghost pad on a drum machine, but used here to modulate synth sounds in many new ways.

Or maybe you have a bass drone going from whatever plug-in you like, now set up a ghost pad for envelope follower using one of the new waveforms on a drum pad and have it change various knobs and parameters on your bass synth. While bass drone is going, head to your drum track and use that pad on 16 levels ratchet to have your bass drone do crazy shit you could never do by hand or even by drawing in automation (unless you head to your computer and get busy with a mouse)

Another way to look at this: dubstep was revolutionary at the time and had a new cool sound with wobbling wubbing bass. Years on the charts and all they were doing was changing between 1/4 1/8 1/8t etc. It blew people away. Now you can do a zillion tbings with your bass line on a device you can buy under $500 used, and all it takes is the mpc workflow that’s been perfected for decades to make it easy and fun to get good drum patterns.

I activated and downloaded and nope no expansion pack, this i think only downloads the wavetables bc no expansion or new keygroups in sight
