Mpc 1000 Power issue

I have an MPC 1000 mk1 ( blue and red with the individual pads ) and for about a year now whenever I turn it on, a crackling/buzzing sound can be heard from the power switch area. Up until now it just happened for about half a second but recently Its longer and if I dont play with the power switch or keep it in place the whole unit shuts down. Im not going to risk anything by trying to repair it on my own, but I was wondering if anyone else had had this typa problem ?

If you're handy with a soldering iron... you might try replacing the caps... though be careful... those things can store electricity for some time...

If you're not handy with electronics/soldering iron... might be worth finding somebody local to you who is.
