I think I have way enough sounds and effects to keep me going for awhile. Granted my use of the device is at a fairly basic level. It was at 3.5 when I bought it and 2 major upgrades since then (3.6 and 3.9) I actually consider pretty good support.

I think some people forget a niche this MPC world is. Akai isn't selling these things by the boat loads, so they gotta make money in other ways if we want them to keep supporting the platform for free  . It's not a scam if some shit cost money & keep in mind, everything is optional.

but: inMusic has a big slice of the cake. they don´t even have to make profit with _all_ their brands, as long as they have their foot in many doors.
this makes nothing wrong you said, but is part of the truth.

[quote="wavemartian"l only want the clip launcher, happy to pay for tha as a separate feature. Not sure what their business model is based on?[/quote]
Probably like any other business: make a guess at what people will pay for a product, see what happens, and adjust as needed.

Dilla, investment bankers, and grocery store checkers all just push buttons on a machine for their job. Some get paid a lot more.
