Sprite vs. Flavor Pro Opinions?

Hey all,

I'm going to pick up some effects during the sale, and I've narrowed it doing to Sprite or Flavour Pro. I'd love to hear peoples opinions on these effects.

I do a wide variety of music styles, I'm not *strictly* hip-hop - although I do enjoy making beats, I tend to veer towards electronic ambient, cinematic. I do often enjoy a lo-fi aesthetic, but it's not the only thing I do.

I'd love to hear anyone's opinions on these two effects, or, if there is something else I should be considering I'd love to know that too!

Sprite is more of a sound design effect... it's got a bunch of creative applications that'll help you make *new* sounds

Flavor Pro is more of a vintage sim effect... it's going to change the way things sound a bit more subtly but simulates things like bit reduction/crushing... vinyl... tape... radio... etc...

Of course you can use both as subtly or aggressively as you'd like... and get results on either side of the fence...

More broadly... Sprite/Delay Pro/Ether are more in the sound design space in my mind... especially given how heavy handedly some of the effects are pre-programmed to... you can pull down the wet/mix/feedback levels and make them more traditional... but I'd say for the "let's make ambient/cinematic" sounds these are all nice options

I'd suggest checking out Flavour, as Flavour Pro is kind of that... but bigger... it'll help you make more evolving sounds by adding some random vinyl noise... wow/flutter... bits of distortion/saturation... it's going to keep a repetitive loop sounding a bit more interesting as the effect will keep the sound generally subtly changing a little bit over time (for a fair few of the presets at least).

Where both Flavour Pro and Sprite both shine is that they're both a multi-effect chain... that only uses a single slot. It let's you drop either (or both) of them in using only one slot each... and you don't have to use up 4 FX slots to get the job done of the more "one specific effect" FX.

Honestly... the two of them together are a bit of a powerhouse... so if you can afford both... you're unlikely to be disappointed with the combo... they don't really overlap that much.

If it was *my* money... and I had to choose... I'd probably get Flavour Pro myself... it's the one I tend to reach for more frequently than Sprite... but that's me.

It's better to use the 10-day trial for each plugin & decide yourself. Both are great for what they do, but only you will know what's best for your music, which we don't know anything about & are not in a position to really help.

Pretty different FX. I’m not really a lo fi guy so FP was unnecessary and there are already a lot of Lo fi fx included in the base firmware, plus the basic Flavor version.

Sprite is cool as is Ether. I use both often. Think of them as a big chain of guitar FX pedals. Both can really mangle sounds or be subtle. Fantastic for making risers and downlifters. Also good if you’re stuck and need inspiration. Avoid Fly Tape II if you want it for the half speed - that’s super buggy.
