TL;DR: I have automation write on and I even pressed record + play. When I twist the assigned Q-Link the automatable CC gets added as an automation target. But it's not recorded. I can also draw the automation which is also not sent out to the synth.

Longer version:
I want to record the automation of the Filter Cutoff of an external synth.
- the Midi CC is 14.
- I have assigned the CC in Track Edit and when I twist the Q-Link, the Synth responds with a change of cutoff values
- Q-Link wise I am in Track mode for the recording process and I have also assigned CC14 to a q-Link there in the learn menu. Again: twisting the knob works
- recording: write is on, record or overdub and play are pressed. it says it's recording but nothing is recorded
- drawing the automation draws it, but it's not sent out. Funny enough: The Q-Link LCD registers the value.
- automation is in read mode during playback.

What am I missing? midi filters in the track view do not show cc14. But there clearly seems to be something missing. I also couldn't find help in the MPC Bible.. Firmware is 3.9.0 and Prefs have been reset multiple times since the update.

alright guys, honest idiot here ... I forgot to switch on rec arm on the track. I just spent an hour wondering but the moment I sent the post I realized that :WTF: ... and oh what a wonder it works if you just do it right, duh.

Anyway. Bet someone else will be as dumb and then they can find this post

These type "idiotic" situation happens all the time on these modern MPCs/Force as they have so many levels to them.

I can't tell you how many times I forgot to turn the monitor tap on in the sampler & spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I can't here nothing when I load the project (the tab set back to off). Anyway, don't feel bad. :)

Guilty as charged. There’s a lot going on in MPC3. And it’s worse using sub mixes routed all around plus an external mixer, I’ve had my ears blasted with horrible feedback more than once by being an idiot.

The joys of audio routing. I only need a patch matrix and the urge to route some outputs into some inputs plus maybe one insert effect and I get an instant hearing test
