Alright...

Hi i'm in the process of going from software to hardware for music production, mainly hip hop. I'm debating weather to get an mpc 2000, which i know is used a lot for music production by many hip hop producers, since ive only messed once with the mpc and i thought that thing was hard as a mother to learn on, my question is is it really that hard? how long do you think it would take for a newbie like me to learn on that thing since i have just been used to a computer doing everything for me. my second question is what do u all think of the mv-8000? these are the two machines i am looking into. another quick question is how is the sequencer on mpc, does it come with effects, and how would i go about burning a complete beat onto a cd or something? cuz i know the mv-8000 comes with a cd burner as well. so please list all the good things an mpc2000 and y it would b better than an mv-8000. thanks in advance.peace.

OK....a lot of questions in this one..... i can only really answer your question about the difficulty to learn issue.....i dont know Jack Shyt about the MV-8000.....So i'll just put it like this......i've had my MPC for 2 years now.....It took me a while to actually sit down and start learning it because i'm in school and i never really had that much time... So initially i thought the same thing as you ..."hard as a mother".... Plus, the fact that i knew absolutely nobody who had an MPC made it that much harder for me to ask questions and get answers.....i had to figure it all out myself. But its just like anything else....you get out what you put in......... I mean, how good are you with software?.... if you've had experience with making beats using software, then you must know a little something about making beats..... I cant really speak on how hard it will be for you, but i can tell you that before i got the MPC, i had no prior experience with making beats. So if i can learn it...you should be able to... just dont let you're lack of knowledge for the MPC overwhelm you or hold you back....


since you have been using software, you probably had a lot of FX plug ins that you could just apply to each track....The MPC doesnt offer much for FX's...at least internally it doesnt. If i were you i would use the MPC WITH your software and use your software plug ins for the FX's......but someone else in here might have to touch up on that one cause i dont have a computer anymore so i dont really deal with those issues....

ainz, thanks for the info man. i guess ima gonna have to go to guitar center again one of these days and see whats up with the mpc and see if it really fits my needs.thanks again. anyone else got any info?
