WHAT THE HELL HAS HAPPENED TO MY BABY!?

Hello.
I recently tried to help a mate out with his new zip drive for his mpc 2k.
Every time he turned it on, the mpc went funny, so i took it home and tried it on my mpc 2k. NOW we found out, the reason it went funny, is because the wire was NOT a scuzzy (SCI?) and when i unplugged it and put my one back in (which DOES have a scuzzy wire) it still kept going funny.
Now it will load up the MPC programme, but no samples or anything, and the zip is stuck in the drive, so to get it out, i have to pull the plug on it.

I realise this has happened because it was first trying to read info from the wrong type of leed, but i am now using the right leeds etc, but the problem's still there!! Is there some sort of swith i need to flick, to tell the MPC that i am now using a scuzzy?

What the hell do i do?
I really need this fixed, as i might die if not.

Don't mean to depress you but it could be you blew your scsi fuse by connecting/deconnecting the 'funny' drive. Never ever connect/deconnect an external scsi drive from the mpc while the drive or the mpc is turned on, NEVER. A SCSI fuse needs to be replaced by a technician, you cannot do it yourself unless you're a wizard on the soldering iron.

I ran into the exact same problem when I got my 1st zip and didn't know the difference between scsi & parallel port . Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it was never right again and I had to get a new one .

ok, i take it your saying the scsi or zip is ****, not my mpc right?!

SCSI fuse is a thing inside your MPC so yeah your MPC could be **** indeed tts the scsi connector on your MPC.
