SYNC TO SONAR with midi

hi i have my korg triton sync'd to sonar so when i hit record on sonar it starts the triton and records in perfect timing to sonar, all i had to do was set the clock on the triton to external, how do i do this on the MPC1000? I need to set it to be controlled externally, everything is hooked up correctly, i see the pad that says midi/sync, but i dont understand how to sync it, anyone help? it will be greatly appreciated!!!

i try to sync it in the sync menu (pad 9) but it doesnt work, i have the cables plugged in like they should be, its weird..
