M-Audio Radium hook up to MPC 2000 XL?

Hello Guys,

Just bought my midi controller keyboard today, and need a little help properly hooking it up to my MPC 2000 XL. I can't seem to get the sounds to play through the keyboard. I know Big Beats has one maybe he can give me some advice.

you just plug the midi out from the keyboard into the mpc midi in.. ready to use, simple as that!

i'm not sure what you mean by getting the sounds to play "through" the keyboard though..? all a radium keyboard does is transmit midi information - think of it as an alternative to hitting the mpc pads, all the samples are still on the mpc and all the sound comes out through the mpc outputs..

What I mean by hearing the sounds through the keyboard is how can you play a sound from the mpc through the radium without hearing the sound your trying to play. I was just working on a track and can't get my strings to play through the radium?

i'm sorry i'm still not really sure what you mean.. i have the exact same setup as you (2000xl & radium keyboard) but i'm not sure what you're trying to do?

assuming you have the string sample(s) loaded in a program on the mpc, and you can hear the strings when you tap the mpc pads, you're straight..!

you now record the track, but instead of hitting the mpc pads as normal you instead play the corresponding keys on the radium. literally all the keyboard can do is tell the mpc what notes to play - that's it. no sound ever passes "through" the keyboard at all ..

why don't you want to hear the sounds you are playing?

On your MPC go Shift + Program and in the program param. , press AUTO (F5) . , make sure you press what pad your strings are on when you do this ..... just press DO IT and your strings on your keyboard..Hope that help some..

Thanks Big Beats I just did what you suggested this morning and is working fine. I didn't know you had to put the mpc through the auto-chromatic function.
