VIDEO TUTORIAL!!!Mpc 2kxl,motif rack,midi controller,mixer

THERES SO MUCH I STILL HAVE TO LEARN,FOR INSTANCE,LETS SAY I WANTED TO GET A PRO KEYBOARD Korg Triton, BUT IT MIGHT BE OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE,COULD I GO AHEAD AND BUY THE Triton RACK INSTEAD AND USE THE KEYBOARD I ALREADY OWN, AS A CONTROLLER FOR THE TRINTON RACK OR MOTIF,I JUST STARTED LEARNING ABOUT RACKS WHICH I THINK ARE SOUND MODULES,FROM WHAT I THINK IVE LEARNED I COULD GET A PRO KEYBOARD FOR MY SOUNDS OR I COULD GET A SOUND MODULE (RACK) INSTEAD OF THE KEYBOARD,OR MAYBE BOTH,CAN U HELP ME WITH WHAT IS A SOUND MODULE RACK,I THINK U ALSO CAN GET A RACK FOR COMPRESSION AND EQ,IM TRYING TO LEARN ABOUT THE HARDWARE I WOULD NEED IF I TRIED TO BUILD A SEMI PRO STUDIO,SOUND MODULES,EFFECTS,KEYBOARD,WHAT ELSE WOULD I NEED,DO SOME PEOPLE OWN A Korg Triton KEYBOARD AS WELL AS THE Triton (SOUND MODULE) RACK...I KNOW THESE ARE VERY BASIC QUESTIONS,BUT I HAVE TO START SOMEWERE....I ALSO DO NOT HAVE ANY PRIOR MUSICAL TRAINING,EXCEPT WHEN I WAS 7YRS OLS I PLAYED THE VIOLIN FOR 3 MONTHS,IWOULD LIKE TO START TAKING PIANO LESSIONS THIS SUMMER,SO I COULD START COMPOSING SOME KEYBOARD RIFFS TO GO ALONG WITH MY DRUM BEATZ,I WANT A PRO KEYBOARD SO I CAN GET SOME GREAT SOUNDS OUT OF IT,BUT LIKE I SAID, I THINK I HEARD THAT I COULD USE MY CRAPPY KEYBOARD THAT I ALLREADY OWN ALONG WITH A SOUND MODULE (RACK) TO GET SOME GREAT PRO KEYBOARD SOUNDS...I OWN A YAMAHA PSR 292 WHICH CAN NOT EXPORT ANY SOUNDS SO I USE IT AS A CONTROLLER VIA MIDI TO TRIGGER THE SOUND MODULES IN REASON(SUBTRACTOR)WHICH IS A SYNTH MODULE.......I DONT KNOW IF IM EVEN SAYING RIGHT, IS A RACK CALLED A RACK OR A SOUND MODULE......CLASS U HAVE BEEN SO HELPFUL TO ME,I APPRECIATE THE TIME YOUR TAKING TO ANSWER MY NEBIE QUESTIONS

1st turn off your damn caps its to hard for me to read. 2nd. sound modules and racks, I see the words used interchangeable all the time. Most of the time when you buy the rack version of a keyboard you loose a feature or 2 or you might even gain features. With the triton rack you still get the sampler and expansion, I think you loose the sequencer, but don't quote me on that. If you buy a motif rack you loose the sequencer and sampler, but you go up to 128 voices(I'm talkng motif not ES). You have to find what you are really looking for. I don't know if you have a MPC, but since we are on a MPC board I figureing that you do. So if you have a MPC, and a psr keyboard which you can use for midi, all you need to buy is the rack version of the triton. Unless you want to buy the keyboard version and take your yamaha out of the picture. Also since you said you knowlodge is basic don't worry about effects processor yet, the triton has more than enough for you now, so all you need it the MPC, Keyboard, mixer, audio and midi cables.

A rack is just a keyboard workstation with out the keys and sequncer. its also called a soundmodule. THey are the same thing

Usually compnies relase a rack version of there workstations
Fantom X workstation = fatom XR rack
Motif es workstation = motif es rack
Trition workinstation = trition rack

I think racks are better becasue
A. They are usually more poweful then the workstations becasue all the rack does is focus on sound generation(not sequncers etc.....)

B. Since your MPC (or cubase or whatever u use to sequnce) is you sequncer you not paying for stuff you dont need. Whats the point of buying a tritition workstation when you paying for a sequncer, sample editing etc.. Thats what your MPC is for

C. They are compact and they are easy to add/substrack from your set up.(i plan on getting the fantom X rack soon)

D. You can controll ,multpule racks with one keyboard. it dosent matter what type of keyboard u get. U can use a cheap ass casio keyboard from ciricut city, as long as it has a MIDI out connection you can control the most expenive racks int he world, since its just MIDI it has nothing to do with sounds. So the keyboard u use to play your racks dosent matter at ALLL

As far as piano lessions go, thats cool but honestly i know alot of cats who have tried that and it dosent help them a lick. there is a differnce between learning how to play the piano and creating orginal composisitons. leaning can help a little IF u already have the musicabitity in you but dont think that takeing lessions is gonna automaticlly make you a better producer.

Trust me i have alot of experince with this, cats think piano lessions is the magic key to becoming a dope producer and they end up getting fustrated.
Becasue
A. learing the piano takes ALOT of time and pratice and is not something that can be done over night.(time that u can be focusing on producing)

B. If ur starting from scratch it may be years before u see the benfits in your production.

C. just becaue u play the piano dosent mean u have a good ear for "creating" music. It takes YEARS to learn how to become a true musican.

THere were cats who were in my piano school that could play the most complex peices by bach etc.. But if u ask them to come up with an orginal meldody. They went blank.

You have to have a musical ear, thats the key, and nobody can teach you that. You either got it or u dont, and no amount or pratice can change that. (just like being able to run fast or jump high) .

You have to be honest with your self

Also i think your trying to bite off more then u can chew buy buying all that stuff. Honestly just focus on what u have and learn that well. I know cats with reason and a MIDI controller that sound like they have 10,000 worth of equiment. You just need to PRATICE and RESEARCH

sorry about the caps) once u do go ahead and buy the fatom XR rack or lets say for example the motif es rack or even the trition rack,how do u hook it up,what kind of wires does it use,do u hook it up to the mixer,or do u hook up the rack someware else??for example when u do go ahed and buy the fatom XR rack how are u going to hook it up...how do u get your keyboard to trigger the rack then after triggering the rack how would you record your keyboard riff from the fatom XR rack and in to cubase sx..............what kind of mpc do u own??? if u own a mpc1k how do u hook it up so u can record each insturment (liked we talked about before) in to cubase sx........and finally which sound card do u own.............to be honest with u class you are the most helpful person.........u have given me a education that nobody else has,because everybody on the mpc forum is pretty much a vetern,they talk about what kind of hardware they own, hence my questions obout racks.....now i can finally understand what there talking about when talking about diffrent sound modules,i really want to learn about the diffrent hardware setups,mpc 1k mixer,sound card,daw,keyboard with rack,so when the time comes i want to be able to hook all these up together so i can record into cubase sx or even sonar 3.......thanx class you have been soooooooooo helpful.

man u gotta reseach on your own, alot of that stuff is answered in the video. I cant hold ur hand and tell you everything, the only way u will learn is to get out their reseach and try stuff yourself

Not to continue the asking questions, but I have just about the same exact setup except I have a Korg MicroKontrol and I want to control the faders in the Mixer with it in Cubase SX 1. Have you ever used an external device to control fader and knob movements in Cubase? Thanks and good looking with the video.

No i havent really used and external device to control the softmixer in cubase. I know it can be done but i really havent had a need to. I just use automation
