Why Its Important to SAVE DATA

off topic...but last night (after learning new tips & tricks from reading through forum discussions), i put together an ILLL interlude for a project Im working on. Filters were right, sounds programmed, everything good. OF course, because I have to get up at 630 every morning for work, I pass out at like 2 am....forgetting to save what I had so far, naively figuring that Ill just continue when i get home from work.

OF COURSE, washington DC area has a thunder STORM...black out....no traffic lights, no hot water, and most importantly...I lost everything I had worked on the previous night on my MP2000XL...and Im not sure if I could make that beat over..it was too precise. sorry..im just bitter.

I guess just a lesson learned the hard way..ALWAYS SAVE DATA. peace.

sorry to hear it, but I've made similar mistakes. I can never recreate the beat the same way either. I still may fall asleep at the mpc from time to time and be so tired i hit load instead of save or something... worse situation is when the mpc crashes. that really pisses me off. i try not to work stoned anymore either, tend to make mistakes that way...

power outages suck!

Similar tragedies strike when sudden power outage occurs during a session. I plan on picking up a UPS sometime soon, since, like man said, the area's been having outages and storms and all lately.

What's worse is a crash in the middle of an unsaved beat in progress.

Anyhow, plan ahead and always backup on the regular.

its happen to me after id written a diamond bongo line- i just went to flick on my harddrive and my mpc froze....i was seething i can tell ya- never recreated the beat but the bongo line i came up with next was better due to my frustration- and now quite a few of me mates are really diggin the track so i guess it was kind of a blessing in disguise....

I accidentally left my window open with my ASR (it was off) nearby. It rained hard as hell that night. I came back home in the morning and water was everywhere, all over the ASR, looked like someone dunked it in a pool and handed it back to me. It's fixed now but I was in shock for a long time.

heres a tragic story for yall....I had a zip 250 and then my scsi fuse broke, so I put a zip 100 where my floppy was, then I transfered two or three songs from 250s to 100s and the result was all around file missassociation and lost files for those two songs........doooooooooooooh
