layering kick drums

Ok, this is a little wierd to explain...but here goes:

I got my main kick, i went into my edit screen, and ran it thru a LPF and got it real bassy and thick....i want to layer it wit a punchy kick, but when i go into the ZONE window, no matter what i layer it with, the 2nd sound is also run thru the filter. I only filtered the one kick not the whole program. any ideas?

First all of your kicks are in the same keygroup so don`t edit the main kick yet.

Set up a kegroup for the pad you are using like A1 go to the edit 1 cutoff and change to the filter you want only and leave the value at 100. Next go to zones and you can relatively (add or substract adjust the filtering for each kick in each four zones.

The Zones on a Z8 or different than similtanious pads on a 2xl or previous mpcs because zones purpose were to layer sounds from hard to soft by velocity on a keyboard. All we have to down know is set up the keygroup and edit the zones or go to step edit and lay the other keygroup on top of your kick.
