Mixer suggestion with 8 outs of my 2000XL

Do you guys have any suggestions for a mixer that will accommodate the 8 outs of my MPC and another 2 outs (stereo) for Proteus 2000?

Plus do I use TS or TRS connectors for the outs from my sampler to my mixer.

If I were you, I'd get at least 12/14 tracks (all mono) & 4busses - Proteus has 6 outs, u should make use of them whilst still leaving urself time to grow (More gear later on).

If ur on a budget, but if you want good results dont put ur music thru a cheap mud grinder. Get the best money can buy or you'l find u need to buy a new mixer again in 6 mths. Spend the money properly 1st time round and grow into it. Bit like baby clothes - Mumzy never brought clothes to fit bang on when u were jus born did she

Match the manufacturers with your budget - Remember, a high price dont always = quality. Sometimes , most of the time, ur paying for the name. ....On a budget, u need to go for the best in ur range

Have a look at some online stores, then read up on reviews etc - Good luck

Ps, if you have more of a comp route setup then a small mixer and multi input S'card will be more up your street.

12/14 tracks of actual channel strips right? Meaning individual faders? Some mixers have 16 channel inputs, but only 8 channel strips. Oh one more thing, I don't think I caught it in the manual, but are the 8 outputs of the MPC mono or stereo?

stereo samples take up a pair 1-2 .. 7-8 of the individual outputs whereas the mono samples take one output. And yes individual outputs are mono

The channels on mixers can come in a range of combo's - Mono or mono and stereo(Stereo is two channels on 1 fader - Eg* 5/6... 5=left & 6=Right)

I prefer mono channels thru out, - I just hard pan channels with a stereo input

In theory they are mono, but can be used to route stereo (See Eg* 5/6)

Episode,that Yamaha is sweet and at a good price too.I use a digital mixer which is cool.But i wish i would've actually got a mixer with individual faders and 16 channels like that one.I would cop it if i were you.

I am not sure if i understand why one would buy a 4-bus mixer unless they were 1) doing live work only, or 2) tracking to a 4-track. The result is effectively a waste of the MPC's 8-out and extra mixer channels.

For session recording, having a 4-bus mixer means you can usually only track 4 at a time, which is not much better than tracking 2 at a time, for which you can do without the cost of the 8-out.

Everyone seems hell-bent on having the 8-out, but in practice most do not or cannot use it effectively to make it worth the while. It is not necessary to use it "just because everyone else is", expecially if most of them use it to make *more* work for themselves.

i dont have 8 outs, but i want a mixer so i can have everything coming through a universal sound manipulator

It was jus an answer back to ur assumption about "everyone" being hell bent on the 8 out board and either not needing it or not knowing how to effectivly use it.

I know how to use it and why I implemented it in my setup - Thats all Mike! How are you today anyway?!
