OMG!

Have you ever bought a record from a thrift store, went home, and it has nothing that you can use. I hate when that happens. If you wan the real sh*t, you have to go to an actual record store. But they cost like $8.00 each, and there is only one record store in my area. Thank God I only payted 50 cents each!!!

You can't use everything but if it's cheap,it's no sweat.If i had a million records but could only use half of them i wouldn't be mad.

I always say, atleast I could could take some drums out of it. or a some strings. ya know...just take anything to make yourself feel like you gained something...haha. string, key, drums.....something.

$8.00? What? The prices at the store I go to stay pretty much around $3.00. It can go up to like 20 but rarely does. Depends on the record.

I believe that there are useable sounds in any audio recording.There might not be ready made loops per se but I have yet to come across a record that had nothing that I could use.I slept on some nice records just because I never listened to the whole record all the way through.Now what I do is listen to records while I am playing video games or on the computer.Just remember this...alot of Music that was made before the mid to late 80's are not pattern based.Meaning the songs themselves often change as they play,sometimes there are instrument solos,breaks,bridges etc...that go over looked by just needle dropping.

that can happen no matter where you go, me, the only place i go is the thrift store, sometimes i get like 4-5 out of 10 records that i can use, some records have like 10-11 good samples, thats why i look for alot of classical music, i live in a latino place so there is ALOT of latin records

That's my problem! I'm always looking for loops!

i always look for loops alot also, i just chop them up, i feel they bring a better cohesiveness to the chops

but i do gotta start looking for other stuff besides loops

yo if you cant use anything on that record then you still got a lot to learn ,cause there are many things to take off a record if it was the only record you had you surly can find something on that record , dont limit your self to ideas or sounds , take a sound and flip it stregth it tweak it make a new sound, if you use your mpc and all it's functions theres nolimits,
