Why don't you trot over to the MPC1000 forum and ask what they do? You will find that 9/10 users do not even use the USB connection, but spend the extra $10 for a separate reader for their computer. In effect, operating and transferring just like the MPC2000 owners do, just with a different medium.

My MPC2000XL has a USB connection and it really is not as cool as you think it is.

The question is do you want a brandnew MPC2000xl with a carddrive installed then buy it. Otherwise by a secondhand and install the drive yourself. I bought my MPC brandnew (not a blue one) with fx 8 out and internal zipdrive. True, it was more expensive than a second hand one, but thank god for the warranty. The MPC had to go in 3 times for repair (8 outs and zipdrive that died on me). If you have a secondhand MPC and you come across that kind of deffects then in the long run it will cost you almost as much as a new one If you have to get it repaired all the time. The chances that this happens are of course minimal, but it happened to me.

i wish my xl had a USB port too! MPC3000...how does your machine have a USB port? you installed it? how can it not be beneficial????? you can just save on you computer!!!!! man....250meg zip fisk versus a 80 gig hard drive!!!!! the 2 reasons i'd even consider a 100 is for the CF card reader and teh USB! otherwise...why would a 2000xl user switch?

The usb on a mpc 1000 is no master usb tts you can not connect external usb drives to the mpc1000, it is just used to transfer data from the pc onto your mpc1000. It is probably faster to just save your samples on a carddrive connected to your mpc and put that card in your mpc than to do the transfer via a cable connected between your pc and the MPC 1K at least that's what I understood from some posts I saw in the MPC1000 forum. The cf reader is also an option on the mpc2000xl.
