Waddup yall....I have a question dats been bugging me forever and this may sound like a stupid ass question but bear with me I'm not some noob and this is kinda complicated to explain so hopefully someone understands wat I'm tryin to get at ill try to be as descriptive as possible w/o confusing u...
Most producers I study [Alchemist, Kanye, etc.] make beats where the chopped up sample[stabs] plays out and it sounds like its stretched out[example: the beginning loop of Jadakiss' "We Gon Make It or the "chipmunk scream"in the beginning of Kanye's "Two Words"] but its not timestretched though. Its more like it "sustains" the sound and lets it "BREATHE" until the next stab plays and it gives the beat a dramatic melodic touch to it[like the sound of a beautiful horn melody]...
I chop up my samples n rearrange them but the stabs will only play for a second so sometimes when I sequence the new loop I get silent gaps in it if I don't play the pads fast enough to cover up the silence n it sounds wack[like the loop is stuttering]...
I tried many diff reverbs in Pro Tools but to no avail it still doesn't sound the way I want it 2...so THE QUESTION IS...
Is this "stretched out breathing dramatic sound" achieved by using a *sustain pedal* with my MPC 4000/Fantom X8?...
My ears tell me its not timestretching because the sound quality and tempo aren't changed and reverb doesn't make it sound like its "infinetly" playing until the next stab goes off...anybody have a clue wat I'm tryin to get at???please help n thanx in advance!!!

SOMETIMES I SIT HERE IN THE DARK AND THESE SOUNDS JUST COME INTO MY BRAIN...THEY DONT STOP UNTIL I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE THEN SOMETHING TRIGGERS IN ME AND IM NOT MYSELF AFTER THAT...
