it says all my tracks are unused!!

ok, last night i made my first beat. then I saved it to zip...just to make sure I sucessfully (all programs & sounds) saved it I popped in a friends zip and punch up another .aps and pressed play. It worked so I put the new one back in loaded it up and hit play, it played fine.
Well, this a.m. I turned on the power on loaded up the track (.aps) and hit play...nothing, it said all my tracks are unused so I put in a frinds disc and punched up a random (.aps) and nothing again. It said all tracks were unused...the sounds are all there on the pads but why would the tracks be gone on discs i didnt even mess with last night? please help, i know its gotta be something small and minor

what are .mids? sorry im still new, but even if that was it why wouldnt i be able to play all the other stuff on the old disk?

ahh. .mid, isn't that only for MIDI? I am not using MIDI at the moment.

Yes you are. You are using a Midi Production Center right? .MID are the files of your sequences. Without those, you can't play any beats.

ok, i see what you mean...so if i re-record it how should i save it? last time I save (all programs & sounds) but i don't see anything about saving .mids, whats the proper way to do that?
also will the other .aps's from the other disc be able to play?

APS is all programs and sounds.

What you failed to load was the sequence data, MID, SEQ, ALL. Those are sequence data files..

So looks like you might have your sounds and programs stored but you lost your seq data unless you saved it before you turn off the power..

You need to read up in the manual what these file types are for and what they do..

you gotta save two files per beat .....


1) the .APS (All Programs and Sounds) this is the samples and Program information.

2) the .ALL (All Sequences and Songs) this is the sequence information.

The .ALL not only saves what information you have for the sequences (placement of notes) but it also saves the track information (what sounds plays when on what track in what sequence).

By not saving the .ALL you erased and lost all of your tracks, but you still have all the samples since you saved the .APS. You just gotta reprogram and rerecord your sequences on the tracks, cuz all that information is now gone.

Lesson learned, newbie. We all did it at least once.

ok, got it, thanks for all your help. what do you think happened to all the seq. on the other disc, i have about 7 disc and it says all there tracks are unused too, i didnt even mess with those last night, but this am there all unuses as well?

could me not saving .mid do anything to harm all the tracks on the other discs?

Like we all said, if you don't save your seq data you ONLY have your sounds and NOT the recording/sequence data to put them in song/seq format. You need to come up with a good loading/saving technique/strategy so as to not have this type of problem in the future.

Rmember anything you don't save will be erased when you turn the machine off.. Me, I always save APS and ALL. That works for me. I usually don't mess ith the other types unless I really have to and even then it's not a problem for me..

ok, but the old disc...why wont they play??? I havnt messed with them. all of them would play yesterday. and today they are all missing, i didnt record anything on them, i had nothing to save. Im going back and fourth from the manual to here trying to figure this out. I have no problem re sequencing what i did last night....but i NEVER messed with these disc last night. out of 7 disc it say every sequence on every disc is unused....why would those be like that if i didnt do anything to them...

Im more worried about all my old-friends beats more than what i made. thats the main thing i am trying to figure out...any ideas on why these old disc are doing the same thing if i havnt even messed with them since then???

sorry i am listening and trying to figure out why those are gone. I did have them i didn listen to them so i know i did have them. messing with a new song on a seperate disc shouldnt affect previous work that had been saved that i have listened too. sorry if you dont think im reading the replys correctly but i did have those in the 1st place ive been listening to them for the last few weeks

Ok, let me get this straight -

You've saved a beat or beats that you did a few weeks ago. You just said you've been listening to them for weeks. Ok. Last night you made a new beat and saved it. On a different disk right? But today you are wondering why you can't play anything and don't even know what a .mid file is or how to save sequences.

How the **** could you have been listening to and saving beats a few weeks ago and now come here wondering about this shit?

You could not have saved those seq. a few weeks ago and listened to them recently if you don't know what to save or load.

Like everyone has said. Read your manual and find out what each file is and what you need to save and load next time you want to listen.
