What do you do?

What do yall mpc 60 & 300 users do about memory. I know you can't have many drum kits and stuff. But I've heard people that use a mpc 60 and have thousands of beats how do you get thousands of beats with 16mb! I want to get a mpc 60. Don't really need it but I just want it.
But one of the turn offs was the memory problem.

3000 can have 32 MB expanded which is more than enough for me.

Really 32mb is enough. Well it might be. What about the mpc 60 users.

60 are 1,5 mo max so you have to do simple stuffs ( you can do entire tracks with that amount ) .The best is to sequence a 16 bit rack sampler also (for long samples and stereo ones . )

I mainly use my 60 for drum kits and odd short sounds. I always fill up all 64 pads with sounds, and rarely use sound compression or sample at 45. I could use just the 60 if I sampled everything I needed for a track, I may do so at some point, just as an experiement, but I haven't needed too.

the 60 does not have 16 megs like P said, 1.5 megs, 26.2 seconds. Great for what I do.

Not many drum kits 24 on an MPC3000 at once before requiring a reload is enough for most "first set at a gig scenarios" ...

64 sounds and envelope variations per drum kit ? Need more ? Like ... um ... come on.

128 sounds in memory ? Enough for most people. Can always re-load if you need more.

32 meg in an MPC3000 ? Plenty ... even better if you use OS 3.14

you sample, create a drum kit, save it to ZIp or floppy, make some beats with that kit, then sample again. Pretty simple, and you learn to slice your shit right.

Avoid sample "phrases". In other works, use the shortest snippets of sounds possible and put your sequencer to work. If you wanted a simple phrase playback device, then there is the memory laden MPC1000, which has fewer sampler features than the MPC3000.

I've done 2 hours of work with less than 32 Meg. Some might involve creative use of the sample parameters. First and foremost, use the same sample in different programs but with different parameters. How does your favorite Kick sound when it is pitched up 2 octaves? If this can save you from having to load some other sound then you have saved a precious second in the memory.
