How to Move sounds from MPC2000 Floppies to MPC2000XL Zip?

I just upgraded from an MPC2000 to an MPC2000XL. The problem is that I can't move my beats from floppy onto zip without losing sounds. I use a zip drive in my PC to copy file from the floppy to the zip disk, but it saves sounds longer than 8 characters as the same thing (i.e. sound008, sound008c, sound008cc are all read as "sound008"). I didn't know about the 8 character rule when I named them. Now my MPC2000 is gone so I can't rename the files, because if I try to rename in the MPC it renames all of the file that it see as the same name. What can I do? Is there a program or something to help this? Is there another way to transfer without having to find an MPC2000 and rename all of these sounds?

I assume you do not have a floppy in your current MPC (you did not state). Put a PC floppy in the MPC, connect an external zip, load and save.

Only idea I have. Otherwise, just use your PC to load. rename, and then recreate all the programs on the new MPC.

Hmm...Im sure that works...but I dont know how to change the zip for a floppy drive in the XL...I dont know how comfortable I am with opening it up and working on it...is it pretty simple?

worked for me before...I used my disks on another XL that had a floppy

It could be simple. You might a particular type of power adapter for the floppy and a floppy cable.

This is incorrect. Not only does the XL read MPC2000 files and disks, but it reads MPC60, MPC3000, S9x0, S1000, S2000, S3000, Roland S7xx and Emu EIII hard disks and CD's.

Man theres gotta be an easier way...I guess I cant hook a floppy drive thru the scsi port any way using some kinda converter or somethin?

Why yes, but a new SCSI floppy will set you back a bit.
