dumb MIDI question...sorry

Hey, i'm new to MIDI so I wanna ask a few questions before I get started down that path. I am gonna be using the Triton and the 2KXL...I've already got the drums and a flute sample and now I wanna add some Triton sounds.

1) If i run the triton into the mpc and record the phrase i play will it assign it to a pad?

2) I've also heard that you can't hear your drums while playing an incomming phrase (sample), if thats the case would it be easier for me to lay the drums down on my 16 track and record the phrases there too and just sample them?

ok, what am i doing wrong...ive hooked midi up out of triton into mpc...but when i the keys on the triton i hear the mpc sounds...im trying to play a phrase with midi from my keyboard and assign it to a pad....any suggestions, the beatmaking ebook and the manual really dont say exactly.

I don't know exactly what all you've done and what you have.But if you're only usin' those 2 pieces of gear,you gotta go out to in,in to out.Make sure you also select Midi on the mpc and not drum in the track field.That should get you movin' in the right direction for now.If that doesn't do it,holla back.
