NO SAMPLING TIME?

I've had my MPC for about a month now and have made like 5 beats, all samples, i also upgraded to the 32mb, i just finally figured out how to sample in stereo, now otday i am sampling and i relize under the sample screen the time won't go above 12.6sec.'s...is that possible? i only have like 5 beats can i be out of all my memory already, is there a way to make more time, the only thing i could think of was maybe i didn't install the 32mb chips right...but shoudn't i have room for much more samp;es?

go to the sampling screen where you sample at. hit the orange open window button that displays how much time you have.

also when in the sample screen and move the cursor to time and with the data wheel move to add more time if you have 32mbs you should have 189.2 s

i hit open it shows 12.6 sec's and below it says 18mb installed, the data wheel wont move any higher than 12.6, is it possible that 189.2 im supposed to have for each sample is being used for all my samples or is that how its supposed to go

when you are inthe sample screen press the open window key it should tell you , you have 32mbs installed may be you did'nt put the chip in right!

189.2 is total time you have in memory as you use it up ,the number should go down i think , i haven't check that yet

ok, im gonna open the mpc up and try to figure out which chip is messed up...but even if i fix it is 189 the total time you can sample on an mpc or is that per sample im still unclear...becuase i took some old loops off my computer and those are 4 bars long and about 1200kb is that why i may already be out of time...which sucks cuase i need a lot more than that..besides the 32mb is there any other option for more time?

if you have 32 mbs on your mpc...and the machine is only showing 18mbs...something is wrong with your port or you RAM....i hope itz your RAM and not your port.....Ram is easy to replace...good luck homie...and i think if you have more than 2 mbs you have more than 12.6 seconds left...

is there any way to clear up more space, or to delete un-wanted samples? i mean if i only have 5 beats on it i cant be done with samples... how many beats do you guys have? and how do you set up your mpc, meaning like song mode or what not, cuase i just make a new beat on each different sequence, am i losing space that way..?

Any sounds that you have loaded in count against your sample time. If you have 32 megs, then you can only have 32 megs total of sounds/samples in your MPC at one time. So you may have too many sounds in your mpc to allow a longer sampling time. Also, if you sample in MONO instead of stereo, you will have twice as much time to sample with.

try this dont load any thing in to you mpc and just goto the sample screen now open the screen up by pressing open window now how much does it say you have it should say YOU HAVE 32MBS INSTALLED. If you installed it right, if you didnt then it will tell you how much you have.


now you load these sample s up every time you turn on you mpc?

if you do .it's easier to start fresh with new sounds, unless your working on the same song all the time.

every time you turn the mpc on you should have 32mbs untill you put some sounds into it ,then you start to go down in memory you can notice it when you check it from the sample screen.

i turned my mpc on with out having the zip disk in the drive and went to the sample screen, i had something like more than 200 seconds...so should i just load everything as i need it instead of loading everything at once from the start?

you don't load every song you have when you turn on your mpc......that would be your problem......if you load the songs and samples you are taking up future sample time........

so when i turn on the mpc can and i want to play some sequences off of my program 2 how can i load it with all the sounds in the right spots, when i tried the drums were scattered...

ya but no one answered how to really make a difference, i've been hearing about hard drives, are those worth it, will that clear up some sampling time..

A hard drive is for storage/loading only, RAM is the only sample time MPC works with. 32MB just over 200 seconds is the maximum sample time..

how many beats do you usually make on your mpc right now?
