mpc 3000le vs mpc 2000xl

is there a difference in feel (rythym,swing) in the two machines?

Alot of people of this site will have there own view on this but Yes there is a big diffrence in Swing also the Sound of the 3000 is very diffrent.

The 3000 has an amzing natural low end and punch on any kik and snr you put through it. Plus if you resample shit back into it.....it just sounds better.

There may be a difference but I don't think its a enuff to justified the price difference in todays day. Look at it this way, dr dre uses a mpc 3000 and scotch storch uses a mpc 2000 xl. If there was a major difference I would think scott would listed his a 3000 on his gear list.

The MPC 3000's D/A converters aren't as the MPC 2000/xl thus better low
end frequency. In other words the MPC 2000xl is brighter. It seem more "professional" Producers use the MPC 3000 (R&B Producers Love them BabyFace, Darkchild Prince even had one)

This is not correct. The MPC3000 uses the same converters as the MPC2000, MPC2000XL, S3000, S2800, S3200, S2000, S3000XL.

The DAC is a PCM69AP and as a common DAC it was used in quite a few things such as CD payers, video games and by other music gear manufacturers such as Yamaha.

macman: how do u resample? Do you record it to some other device e.g. logic or what?

Nice and simple...

I use the mpc editor and my trial is long over. I been trying to buy the editor from midicase.com and the site that is suppose to pop up when you click on "register" or "purchase" takes me to a blank page. I need the editor and have been hurt without it. Please give me some info and maybe we can paypal.

I resample by fixing my Snror Kik i like and record it on to my Masterlink CD recorder ( on to the HD OF THE MACHINE) Then Digital out of that goes straight to the MPC3000 Digital In.

Also i was thinking bout upgrading the 3000 FOR A 4000 and had use of one for a week. (I HAVE SENT IT BACK)

The machine has some really nice features and sounds good to but the timming is very diffrent then the 3000.

I found it real hard to get a groove swingin on the 4000 which I think has alot to do with the Pads. They feel very soft and not very responsive compared to the 3000"s pads.........Also the envelopes play the samples back diffrent whenyou transfer them across.

It was a hard choice to make when you weigh up all the features but for me the groove is more important.

I also own an OG 3000 and previously owned two 2000xl's...I gotta say, there is something different about this machine. Drums are bangin and snares are snappin on the 3k. Don't know why..but the 2000xl in my opinion is pretty weak. I love the 3k for its simplicity..all the buttons are in your face..no need to press shift and sift through folders...The 3k+S950 is the best setup i've run into so far...

oh no here we go again...

4000 has higher sequencer resolution. i think about double the 'parts per quarter note'. maybe that has something to do with it
