please help me wit this zip dilemma

aight I was using my mpc and about to save my APS. The MPC then freezes and the zip thinks for a couple of minutes and then I turn the MPC off and turn it back on again. Now it does not recognize the scsi external zip at all. I tried to reinstall the OS, but still no luck...please help...need zip to work...

bing bao mane, its probably a blown scsi fuse...thats what it sounds like to me....those things are a pain to get repaired....are you using a 2k or a 2kxl? the drive is prolly okay, yow mean?

how do i go about getting this...can i get somewhere else besides from akai....its a 2000xl

guys...I honestly need all the help I can get in getting my zip back cause Im goin abroad in like a week and I NEED my mpc to be working....

try to rest the scsi by going to the load screen shift+load and move the cursor to where the scsi # is , then hit the open window and try to change the channel of the scsi to where you hear the scsi think again

does the light on the scsi work does it turn on. i don't think it is a blown fuse . what kind of zip is it.

Some clarification would help here. Does it not recognize that particular disk but does others, or does it not recognize any drive attached to the MPC?

Just one reason I do not use Iomega products.

If at all possible, try a different scsi device if you have access to one. This will rule out damage to the MPC itself. At worse, you may be able to put an internal ATAPI in the MPC to repalce the extrnal one.

I accepted the fact that my SCSI fuse was blown, so I took an internal IDE ZIP 100 out of an old dell and wahla my MPC has an internal zip thanks to mr. tutor. Def recommend the installation, dont be afraid of any of the cutting...very straight forward and now my loading time is supa fast! hehe anway, thanks for guys help, now I can load and save.

As I mentioned in the other ZIP problem post, from what I gather, the problem most people are having with external ZIP drives is the difference between the parallel (Z100P2) and SCSI (Z100S2).

This is the S2 model which I think is the right one for MPC users
