having trouble sampling drums

iight, i gota few al green records with some nice drums, but when isampleit into the mpc, chop the drum out, it feels like it looses its punch that it originaly had, i can filter kicks to sound pretty good, but snare and cant get right, any help

Try addin' a lil swing and maybe not filtering it so much.Some times cats get caught up into filtering everything and it kind of looses it's "soul."

make sure your attack time is set to 0 for that pad and that you are not chopping off too much of the front of the snare. Chop by ear not just waveform.

Yeah and you're EQing them when you sample right?

I have trouble gettin open kicks everytime a kick sounds open it also sounds far away like its in the background. Any suggestions?

When sampling drums, I load my samples into SoundForge or sample directly into SoundForge. Sample the section with the drums, then use Auto Region to extract the Drum Beats. After that, you can EQ the Drum Beats.
