What kind of compressor is everyone using?

I hear good things about compression. Was wondering what everyone uses. Is there software to do this? (doubtful). Thanks for any help.

Yeah like the cat above suggested, software plug-ins are a pretty good replacement for expensive hardware (good compressors worth using run between $2000-$5000 in my opinion). Waves is real tight, McDSP, and my boy has a Drawmer compressor plug-in that's amazing. Oh and Waves VOX compressor for a quick vocal mix. My 2 cents.........

I use a Focusrite Compounder. They don't call it that for nothing. Nice 'n tight 'n bangin on drums. The bass expander circuit kills it.

I might get a TL Audio 5021 in the future, it's a very nice valve compressor for the price.

The MPC1K comes with a built-in compressor.

I use waves and also the plug-ins that come with Sonar.

Well Im no Professional engineer mixer type guy, All I know is what a compressor actually does and I can use one, But i dont even understand your question exactly?
