Hey guy I have a 2000xl an di don't know if its the same but I just wanna try to help so here goes ......you change the scsi number for the MPc by going to the load screen and moving your cursor to the device option. It should say floppy I think. then trun your jog wheel and it will check each channel for a scsi device as you turn it. If i recall correctly the zip onlyhas two choices for scsi ID#'s thats 5 or 6 , make sure your terminater is on also ........GOOD LUCK

I'm in the same boat...I just got my MPC a few days ago and it just freezes up at the load screen. I have no other choice but to turn the unit off. I have a 100 MB Iomega ZIP drive which is connected to the MPC via a cord with a couple of adapters. Judging from the FAQ about this, it sounds like I need a 25 male to 50 male in one cord (if I can find one). I may also need an external SCSI ZIP as opposed to the standard ones that are supposed to run through your PC printer parallel port. I'm just guessing here and havent tried it out but it does sound like a reasonable solution.
