Programs on the MPC 3000

I gotta dumb ass MPC 3000 question for y'all; let's say I make 3 drum kits, 1-kicks, 2-snares, 3-percussion. Track-1 is a drum kick, and I want Track-2 to be a snare. How do I switch to my snare kit without affecting my drum kit on Track-1 ? On the MPC2KXL, you have the ability to scroll through the programs you loaded into memory.

It doesn't work like that, why you would want a program of all kicks is beyond me, make a drum kit into one program and split the sounds up.

You cant scroll through your programs in the Midi/Drum field of the MPC3000?

By this I mean, under the Tr:01 there is no S:DRUM1 or S:MIDI?

Maybe this an option that is only on the 2000 series? If so I am real glad I found out now!! How would you then choose whether or not you wanted the track to be internal or external midi or choose which program you want on that track??

You can only load one Program for a sequence on a 3000 IIRC. You can have different PGM's, but you can only use one in a Sequence.

Using multiple programs can be cool, but a lot more to keep track of. I don't really sweat it, but others might. The 3000 doesn't have timestretch or track mute, I gladly trade those things for what I get with the 60, but others might not.

You can select midi channel on every track, you also have 64 external midi channels, as opposed to 32 with only 2 outs on the 2000's.

Thanks elmacaco. You're right, it is a pain in tha !$# keeping up with different program files. For everyone else, what I did was create a single program with all the drums, snares, percussion, misc. sample sounds. Makes it alot easier to manage sounds.

Yes man, listen to your MPC, it will tell you the best way to wirk with it, and if you try it, you will find that it is better than what you had in Mind.
