yo classic, i just got the m-audio delta 44. and i wanna know if i can use this to sync my mpc to cubase. it has no midi inputs, just 4 1/4 inch in/out plugins. so is there anyway to record my 8 bar loops evenly even if i dont have midi plugins. maybe going out thru my mixer ?

Nahh, u cant just go by audio, u need the MIDI signal to "perfeclty" sync the MPC to cubase. If not how would u get the loops perfect?? feel me??

Now what u can do is just buy a simple USB/MIDI interface. and use that to send midi signals to your MPC.

So u would have the audio running threw your delta 44 and you would have the MIDI cable running threw your USB/MIDI

in cubase(or whatever ur using) u have to make sure that you select the output for ur MIDI signal, and the input for ur audio signal, since they will be coming from 2 differnt places..

hope this helps

Thanks i aprreciate th efeedback..Im not the sharpest tool in the shed , but i do have some insight on the direction i was heading back then..The VS 1880 was bought with the intention on bypassing the software route..Im a network admin so its like when i go to work on my music i didnt want the cpu aspect in the mix of things.. Now when its time to just playback tracks/ mute/solo and mix down and master ..oh hell yeah this could work..
The most pain ful thing about my set up (motif es 6, planet phatt, jv1080, mpc200) is that i have to manually re-enter every patch or preset when recalling a song..Its like once i work on a song i hate to go back to it because recalling patches from every module can be a pain in the @!#.
Will cubase solve this...The VS 1880 is actually a good machine however..Kanye West along with the Neptunes use it heavilly on all thier projects all though im sure they dump it in Pro tools..

Hey man thats crazy, I am a software engneeir and an assistant DBA for the University of maryland(we are doing a people soft ERP). Im also finishging up my masters degree in IS. So I DEFINALY understand your pain.

Thats why i choose to still sequnce on the MPC, casue it forces you to use your ears instead of your eyes, plus i cant stand looking at a computer for another second when I get home.

This is my opionion
For sequncing and creating beats hardware is fine(i think its better) but for mixing and mastering, tracking etc.. Nothing can beat the ease of software.U cant beat features like automatition, effects etc that can be applied so easily in software.

Now i understand that u spend some cheese on that VS 1888 and i still think u can get some use out of it. Alot of people like to boucne their tracks from an hardware mulit track into software. They say it give it a "warmer" soundqualitity. I havent had any personal experince with it, but you can definaly give it a try.

As far as savig stuff on your soundmodule
I dont know about ur JV, but my motif allows u to save "program multi's" to its ROM just as if u were saving an program file on an MPC.this muti has all the instrament effects midi channels etc... that are used for that particular multi on the motif)

I usually name the program multi on the motif the same name as the beat on my MPC. SO when i load up a beat. I just dial to that muli on the motif, load up the program on the MPC and im good to go.

FOr back up purposes i can tranfer that muti program from my motif rack to my computer via USB. I store it in the same folder as my MPC files for that particular song. Most modern racks allow this

Thanks alot ..I'll print this out and re read on the train ride home and come up with a game plan..

By dehromie Thu Mar 03, 2005 5:21 pm
Oh yeah and actually, i save the motif file name the same as I do on my mpc as well. When i relied heavily on the planet phatt cause i didnt have anyother modules the recalling of sounds were crazy..i couldnt just turn it on and call up a song like u can on the motif so that where my problems lie.Now however honestly i rely on my motif es along with the MPC and as u said just save the 2 under the same name and i'll be fine although I have yet really to mesh the two in terms of this ..this weekend i plan to setup some kinda template for recording so that when i go to record its simpler..Meaning, Midi A on the mpc will be for th emotif exclusively and midi b will be for the JV 1080 1-8 planet phatt 9-16.. i will look at your tutorial shortly...i seen the first 2 minutes of it and the thing that i like thus far is that your beats seem to have been created with the mpc as the sequencer and now ur about to i think track into Cubase..i have to stay tune to find out if thats whats really going on...lol What specs do u have on your pc for Cubase...i do have a midi sport 4x4 at home collecting dust...i think i should be able to rock this for midi...For audio that sanother story...

Yea like i said My MPC is the brains of my studio, no matter what software i get, the MPC will always be the master sequncer. I dont think there is a better sequncer outtheir."hardware or software"

When i finsh the beat i just track it into cubase for mixing and mastering(so i can take it to the studio) BUt again ALL my beats will be created using the MPC's sequncer.

Now i will countine to add differnt racks(thats why l ilove racks) to my setup. (getting the fantom X soon) Also i am going to be adding VST's to the mix also which will act just like racks expect they are sitting on my computer.

For cubase SX to run effectily u need atleast a p4 processer with ALTLEAST IG of memeory. It sucks up your cpu cycles espically when u start adding effects and monitering real time

Peace,

Classic I went through your video. I got cubase and Magix and I wanted to rig my MPC 2000 up with my CPU. So in-order for me to link the two I just to have a USB/Midi interface? I still rock Windows 98SE since most of my software is based on 98SE. Anyway how is this type of Midi/USB interface?

Well like i said u need a USB midi interface for the MIDI, and u will need some type of soundcard for your audio inputs.

the USB midi interface should work fine for syncing, but again u have to reseach(have u tried a search on this subject?), the purpose of mytutorial was to give people a general overview of what they had to to. Like i stated eariler u have to figure out the details of your set up on your own. Im not really here to answer "specific" questions about ur set up.

Good luck

Peace,

True I feel you. I got Creative's Sound Blaster Audiology for my sound card. It also came with a interface with extras added to it. I got all the audio specs taken care of, software, hardware wise etc.. I was just wanting to know would that Midi/USB face do enough justice to transport Midi out from the CPU into the MPC. But good looking and thanks for hollain back.

Which ever MIDI interface fits your needs(there are many to choose from), like i said eariler, im really not going to answer "specific" questions on peoples set ups. I just wanted to give people a general overview. You gotta do the research on your own
