ok this sucks yo... i sent my MPC back to get the memory card slot fixed... everything was going good they said they would be able to fix it and send it back within in the week. Well, i got a call this morning and this guy told me that the memory card pcb slot is on back order till MAY!!!! WTF and he said he cant send it back till then or Akai (or whoever just bought out akai) will void the warrenty. WHAT THE HELL AM I GOING TO DO? is there any stores online that sell the PCB slot? if anyone has any usefull links i would appericate it alot yo...

I don't mean this to sound bad but

DAMN!!!!! THAT's F*%CKED UP

Son, I'm sorry to hear that. my pins in my CF card slot were bent and before I sent it off to them, they told me it wasn't covered in my warranty so I fixed it myself.

why would sending it back before they have the pcb slot in stock void the warranty? there's no point to send it before akai has it in stock anyway, but still i was just curious why that would void the warranty.

and on a side note i knew someone a couple years ago who had a 2000 and had to send it to akai to get it fixed. monthes passed and nothing happened, he then got another mpc and something went bad with that one as well. i don't know what the hell this guy was doing to damage 2 mpcs, but i remember akai had his two mpc's for like 8 monthes or something....CRAZY.

not trying to scare you. just saying good luck man...
and i think (even though this probalbly wouldn't help as far as a warranty issue) there are a couple other places people have recommended for mpc repair. try a search and see if any of them come up....

good luck man...

I am not sure why one would need a new CF slot. There are basically no components on it and the most common issue is is people improperly inserting cards and bending the pins. This is easily fixable by even the most non-technical types.

profit, you should keep bugging them...if the pins are just bent they should send it back to you. browbeat em, scream at em, just GET YOUR MPC BACK.

Yeah, tell them to just bend the pins back if they can and not have you wait so they can get more money out of you.

Man, they must be strapped trying this kinda shyt.

aight check it... they were telling me that my PCB slot for my CF card isnt reading my cards so, they had to order a new one but its on back order till May... once i herd this i flipped... i posted this thread to see if anyone knew where they sell these card readers... but anyway i called up Numark which is who bought out akai resently (there are obvious problems within this company) and i talked to the supervisor. He was telling me that its been hard for them to get parts from akai blah blah blah blah.... so after about 15 minutes of bitchin he finally admitted to haveing a "carcus pile" downstairs in the technicians room. I was like, "You better go get me a reader or ima come down there and get it my self." After the fear of pissing off another customer, he finally said he would over night it to Audio Design and Services (who i mailed it to for the repair) and they would fix it within the week. i was happy with that answer and got off the phone with him... Now shortly after that i called Audio Design and Services and they told me that they already suggested to take a piece from the "carcus pile" but Numark doesnt listen to their employee's (or contractors). So the moral of this story is to be on top of your game... DONT GET JERKED!!! cause god knows they tried... well anyway holla back if u got any questions i would be more then happy to share so that no one else gets into the same situation...

My internal reader crapped out on me as well.

About a week or so, I noticed a problem where the internal reader would freeze up the MPC whenever I attempted to load my kits. The problem went away and came back once again. So today I shipped the MPC back to Akai after speaking to customer service. I had to pack EVERYTHING in the box with a copy of my receipt. Customer service was helpful, considering that I need to get a project done. So they added a P (for priority) at the end of my return authorization number. Whether or not the techs even care is yet to be seen. I'm just hoping they fix or replace it quickly. After searching and reading this thread, I hope Akai got their ish together by now. If anyone else had the same problem, holla back and let me know how it went down with Akai.

I bought mine brand new a few months ago, so it's still under warranty.

The warranty is cool, i got a 4 yr warranty with mine but certain things are not covered under the warranty and if you send it back to akai, sure they can fix it, but they will charge you an arm and a leg to do it. read up on your warranty to see exactly what's covered and not covered.
