chopping a loop

I got a gutair loop I am trying to make a one shot sample, the deal is when i go to the edit screen to highlight a selection that i think is the part i cant get the highlighted selection to play it plays either the whole sample.

What am I doing wrong?

The way I do it is just copy the sound over and section the sound out differently. Basically, I just make different "chops" of the sound and play em out however I feel.

on the trim screen you should be on trim to hear what you have hilited

Go to PARAMS and set the pad to NOTE OFF. It will only play when/while you depress the pad.
