ipod and 4k

Does anyone know if the iPod can be used as a USB drive for the MPC, like one of those little keyring drives?

The IPOD is a slave usb drive just like the thumbdrive.

Ask yourself do thumbdrives work in the 4k?

Too bad you can't use an iPod to make quality recordings (with a mic) and then upload them into the 4k. Now that would be nice!

that's why the Ipod sucks. There are other hard disk recorders that can record no problem. People are just hung up on the design and look.

you obviouly have missed the point of what the iPod was actually/initially designed for: an MP3/AAC player w/ seemless integration of hardware and software. and...which as happens to work as a firedrive/usb drive. .....and if you're really crafty as many of us have been for some time, you'd realize you can record on the iPod, play games, pictures and that.

not that i care that you like the iRiver, but can you give me a list (a real one) about how iRiver blows the iPod away. yet, every reputable tech magazine/interent review does site it as 'being good' but no iPod killer. you guys are killing me today. again, i don't really care what you buy, and if You think you've made the best purchase, then great. i'm all for people being happy with themselves and there opinions.

The IRIVER needs no app to add mp3's wavs or any data file to its storage area.
Video can be played as well. NOt that I care about video
If I want to plug my iriver into any computer and drag a bunch of mp3's its no problem. Drag a bunch of samples..anything at all. I dont need to load any software it comes up as a USB drive.
I can make any arrangement I want playlist from any pc or mac.
I used a IPOD until I seen the Iriver in action.

By the way you can record directly into the IRIVER like a sampler or recorder and its a FM reciver. Color screens remote and USB on the fly for file transfers like a for a digital camra.

you can load video on and iPod, you can drag whatever you want onto it as well. it is a usb/firewire drive. you don't have to use iTunes. people really seem to miss that point. the iPod is a 'drive' that has software that works with iTunes but you aren't limited to just that. again, i'm glad you like your iRiver. but, your old iPod does and did everything you just described.

That must be in the newer gens, I had the 3rd Generation and I had to sync up ITUNES to get a my songs onto it. That has changed? But there are a lot of features that the IRIVER just has better then the IPOD IMO. I have owned both. fm tuner color screen, recording..things liek that

you can get that adaptor to plug a mic in or use the bulti in mic on the adaptor. I think its $40, has a mini speaker too.

The fact that you need itunes to put MP3's in the ipod to play is wack though, and that you can't link up to other itunes and grab tracks.

You gotta do them harddrive tricks to do that.

you can record on your iPod! you don't need an adapter. though that is an option. the iPodLinux software turns you headphone-in into a mic in. not that i'm pro-iTunes but as far as MP3's go, why is using iTunes a problem? iTunes for MP3's works great. .Wav's, Aiff's and all the rest have never caused me grief either.

btw Aprim, the features i've described early would and do work on a iPod 3g. i know this for a fact. also my 2g iPod does these things too.
