thanks for the reply. i looked at that thread already and tried deleting repairing permissions and all that but all i can't get is an empty ak.sys browser window when i open ak.sys. i've used ak.sys on a pc and the pad editor and stuff was lovely, i just can't get it to run on this mac.

well the first couple of things to ask/check is:

(some of these may be obvious to you, so don't be offended...they're just pertinent to figuring out what is or isn't working)

>is your USB cable bad?
>is your USB port on the Mac working...check it?
>you're going from the rear MPC4k usb to the MAC right?
>your MPC4k has to be on for the Mac to recognize the 4k's drive.
>you've intalled to the proper OS X Aksys MPC4k software?

if all of those things are correct and you've followed that other thread to a 'T', than i have no idea whats going on. my sh*t has always worked flawlessly and without any trouble. most other OS X users are in the same boat as well. so lemme know once you've followed all the above and other thread, maybe we can figure it out. also, if it's a no go, make a list of everything you've done and checked...this will make problem solving a little easier.

peace and good luck.

you also mention that you copied the Ak.sys software to your Apps folder, which sounds correct but you also said you installed a 'driver'....what driver? are you talking about the 'ClassicsiezeDriver.pkg' which is included? hmmm, i don't think you need that but it shouldn't cause any problems.

if you downloaded the: akSysOSXV261.dmg, then you got the right one. also, the fact that you can boot up Akaisys is promising on the OS X side of things. the only time i get a blank 'Aksys' software is when the MPC4k isn't on or isn't hooked up.

anyway, these were some after thoughts

cool. thanks for the replies. you've been a great help. i followed everything and i've come to the conclusion that it has to be a bad usb cable. i'm going out to get one today and i'll let you know if that fixes it. thanks again.
