It seems more marketed towards the 2k users than 4k/3k users by looking at the compatibility:

MPC2000XL SEQ, PGM (*), WAV
MPC4000 SEQ, WAV (No PGM compatibility)
MPC3000 No compatibility
Z4/8 .WAV sample data only
S5/6000 .WAV sample data only
S1000/3000 No compatibility

It does read 4k SEQ, but it doesnt say shit about .akp etc? I imagine it reads that aswell, would be pointless otherwise I guess.

It really should be able to run on batteries aswell, beeing this portable and still having to have some power outlet near you kinda takes away the whole purpose in my opinion. But maybe thats technically hard to solve or something.

All and all it looks like a good budget version, some mix of a 2k & a 4k.

What I think? I think they should finalize their other MPC's before they release a new one.

And sadly, I have to say, I dont trust these specs at all in any way. The 4k was advertised with alot of specs thats still havent been implemented.

wow another mpc akai mpc's. they went backwards with the 1000. it defienetly looks like a toy. i want to know what it can really do. i wonder if it has anything on the xl

It would be dope if it did run on batteries but I looked really close at the specs while the page was up, and if they were truthful it didnt look like it in any way, so my guess is NO it wont run on batteries.

Its also limited to 16bit (no big deal for most), theres no AK.SYS for it, it uses a flash memory card for storing samples/songs, it has USB though and support some protocol thats used by most hardware developers so it should be possible to use an external USB hard drive. You can put in 128 mb ram in it. It had 2 FX Channels, looked like it was built on the 4K effects. 2 Q-Link sliders... What else... hmm... cant remember it all ;-/

Oh and dont trust the specs... It might take like 2 years before all the functions actually works

Funny it looked like the rumored stand-alone mpc software that I heard about (much like the vz8 vst-i and audio unit coming this quarter) How cool it would be if they would release both.
