Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi. I just recently purchased an mpc 2000xl after being a long time asr-10 user. When you splice a sample across different keys, is there a way to make one pad "cut off" another pad's sound? Like when I play part of a sample on one pad, can I play another pad with a different section of the same sample and "cut it off." Like mono, except instead of the same pad cutting it's own sound off, using a different pad to cut off the sound. I always do this on the ASR ("trigger" command) and am just wondering if this is possible on the MP. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Go in to programs select the pad that will cut off the other pad, select params, in the params screen position on the mode (poly, not off , mono ...) and press the open window button. Hereyou can define which other pad this pad will cut off.
