Midi Data Error, Motif ES Rack and MPC 2000xl

Midi Data Error

Here is my setup

Motif Es rack connected to my Akai MPC 2000xl from the B midi out port. I use a keystation 49 as my controller set exclusively to midi channel 1, connected into my MPC "A port" I have my Midi B out port connected to a midi bridge box so the B out midi channels are seperated one going into the Motif ES rack and the other going into my computer. My Mpc is sending midi time code frame rate 25 into the Motif ES rack. The Motif is set up in multi as the slave to receive the signal. I am unsure if I need to change the midi channel on the controller and change the midi channel on the MPC when I want to record using the ES as a multi timbral sound module. I record using the mpc to loop after 4 measures. When I record using one program on one track it seems to be ok, however when I start using multiple tracks I get the midi error. Sometimes it sounds as if some sounds are sustained after I stop the sequencer, Any suggestions? Please notify me if you need additional specific information.

I am not sure if it is my setup or the rack, the rack was brought back to the store before I purchased it.

Why? Why not use midi clock? MTC is generally used for syncing between sequencers and multi-track recorders. In addition to this, MTC will not "loop" properly if you have LOOP: ON for the MPC sequencer. If you are just triggering sounds on the motif, then midi clock is just used to sync delays, lfo's other trendy items to the sequencer.

Just set up a track for each motif channel on the MPC. That is how it is designed.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate the time you allocated and the quick response. The newbie information was very helpful.

I have switched the outputs to midi time code as you suggested and I even swicthed the sync out to off. I am not receiving as many midi data errors as before but they are still there. For example when I solo any track from the mpc if the track is associated with the Motif ES rack the midi data error appears.

I have looked at some of the posts from here and the motif site and someone mentioned that the m-audio controllers may be the cause of the concern. I have no idea if this is the case or not but I wanted to make sure before upgrading to another midi controller. I will try using the mpc pads to determine if the problem persists.

If you have any additional information that may help please inform me.

I have no idea if this is the case or not but I wanted to make sure before upgrading to another midi controller. I will try using the mpc pads to determine if the problem persists.

Problem Is still there when using the mpc pads to send midi messages.

Any suggestions?
