Breaks

I normally use one shots and alot of cats here use breaks.I don't wanna argue about which is better i was just wondering how most of you go about buildin' your drums?Do you think it's easier to use breaks or one shots?

im not a big break person, never was, i enjoy litsening to them, but not using them

I used to use both in Acid, Now that I have the MP it's all One Shots

One shots, to build drums patterns. Build patterns with
breaks then they are not really yours.

My bad i forgot there are cats out there that have access to actual drum sets. I get so caught up in this digital age thing i forget people still use those other things.....uhm.........what are they called?..........uhm.........Oh yeah,instruments.

No way dude - could not play a real 'instrument' if I had to.. Im talking about analogue drums, so the likes of 808/909/Jomox etc. But, yeah, real drummers is one that I also did not consider

i love breaks. im currently in the process of sampling all my breaks. Im trying to make 1 big library. Im not even like 25% done though. and i been doin it for like 4 days for like 4 hours when i get outta work. I got alot of breaks. When im done though imma slice them all up and make kits. So i got breaks and one shots. Gonna take me a month probally but it should be worth it. I use breaks by choppin thme up and programming them. I use a certaing quantize and a shortcut on the mpc to program so i can make ill patterens out of breaks with breakdowns and rolls and shit. I like it alot more then one shots. I think its also alot more developed also then just laying down some kicks and snares. But to each there own.

Good luck with that library Binger.I was thinkin the same thing as far as instruments.But it would probably take years to dig through all this wax and find all the horns,keys,etc and put them on their own disk.I'm not lazy i just have so much other stuff to do it would take forever.

yeah i was thinkin bout that also. I read that hi tek does that. he will just sample sounsd for a few weeks then switch gears into making tracks for a while. the drum shit aint so bad for me though. i should be done with it all in a few weeks hopefully.i just have to listen to alot of joints.

I do that a lot of times, I'll sample for a day or two, then make tracks for a while, but I'm kinda shifting gears now.

i use 1 shots 99% of the time. i just GOTTTA have control over my foundation. but i actually have a "hush hush" project underway using nothing but classic breaks for the foundation

That's what i may start doin' just for like a week make kits and then work on tracks for a week.You know?Just switch it up like that every week because sometimes the inspiration isn't there and i end up spendin all day on a track only to junk it.
