Can you do this on a 2000/2000XL or any other mpc???????

Hi I may have missed it in my search, but can someone answer this.....

can you pitch bend notes(sampled sounds) on the 2000/2000XL from an external midi keyboard?

get a sampler that will let you do this, and sample it back into the mpc. I don't want to sound like a salesman, but I use my ASR-X for that.

Why? Use a $400 piece of software on a $1500 computer? I just drop the sample a the $125 Akai S2000 or the $100 Akai S2800. Problem solved and the sample was never tainted by computer. roxstar is right. If you want anything much beyond simple playback you are going to want a sampler.

I guess maybe the message was written assuming the user HAD a computer and the software already, but I have to agree outboard would be best for this anyway. Just out of curiosity, mpc3000, do you do ALL your production out of the box with outboard gear and then just record it (and if so, what do you record to when finished)?

All of my work is done without a computer. I use one of the MPC's to drive any number of the samplers or synths. It is all multitracked to the Akai DPS16. I can re-process in the DPS or pump through outboard effects, like the Lexicon MPX1, and when I am done write the final copies to audio format right on the DPS. All done without the hassle or inconvenience of using a computer. In all honesty, I have not done much mastering work in the past year as I have had a lot of live gigs lately.

I know it may be an alien concept to people that grew up with computers, but a computer does not *have* to be any part of the process. I am not saying it is any better, but it better for me (and I already have a real degree in the computer field, and am even working on a Masters).
