I was listen to Since we last Spoke and was wonderin what does he use to program his drums cause if it's the mpc... he's incredible!Well anyway,my question is Does anyone know of any good records with Spanish Quitar type licks/riffs?

RJD2 rocks a lot of loops... He programs on the MPC chopping them, but not usually chopping them into one shots...

More likely... He'll chop maybe a bar into 4 - 8 parts and then rearrange those little fragments of the bar into a new sequence... That way he puts his own spin on it, but retains the original feel of the loop...

Also you can tell on certain tracks he does some beat juggling on the tables underneath a sample or synth instead of programming on the MPC...

He is incredible when it comes to drums... His breakdowns are amazing... Especially his older stuff...

So,he uses the mp to program his drums then?

yeah in deadringer he mentions that he uses an mpc in the album sleeve and techs

RJ is dope, especially his live set(mpc plus 4 turntables). He is hands down the most organized, collected and calm live producer/dj that I've ever seen, not to mention his taste and style are remarkable to me.

That being said, I didn't really like that much of Since We Last Spoke. Or at least compared to his other work.

Spanish guitar records - Salvation Army/ Thrift stores seem to have that genre on lock.

I like Since We Last Spoke... Wasn't his best work, but I feel that if he had come out with that first you prolly wouldn't have thought it was so bad... It was definitely different than DeadRinger... But I mean you can't stay on the same sh*t forever... You gotta progress as an artist... Granted a few tracks were complete garbage, but overall it was an interesting effort... More rock than hip-hop... Definitely a good concept album... and 1976 is my track...

I got an audio interview with RJD2 when I bought deadringer as a bonus. He stated that he made the whole album on a mpc 2000 He stated that it took forever because of the lack of ability of the 2000. He stated in the interview that he just got an xl and it is making his life alot easier. But he did the deadringer on nothing but his mpc 2000 and samples. Pretty fricking amazing if you ask me. And I to prefer the earler stuff as compared to since we last spoke.

Yea I talked to him after a few of his shows... He did all of DeadRinger on his 2000... He sampled some of the craziest sh*t too... He sampled breaks from like KFC commercials and sh*t... Crazy...

OOOH YEAH I've only heard like 5 or 6 Joints but sounds cool 2 me..........

He is dope, his stuff at times reminds me of jedi mind tricks.

i love deadringer to me RJD2 is like a more hip hop orientated Dj Shadow. and to do that classic album entirely on the 2000 is ridiculous but maybe thats why its so good.

Definitely... He definitely incorporates more Classic Rock and Blues into his beats thatt he actually has MC's on, but his instrumental sh*t is somewhat remeniscent of Stoupe... I've said that before... People always think I'm nuts...

yea as far as rj goes i absolutley love deadringer and the track ghostwriter

are there any other artists that are basically the same/similar to him, other than shadow....

Bonobo and Diplo are similar, but not exactly the same...

Diplo does more of a chopped and stuttered feel with more electronic drum sounds... Kind of a cross between RJ and Prefuse-73...

Bonobo does RJ styled stuff... Much more organic sounding and not as electronic as Diplo or Prefuse... Nice though...
