Question about Reason..............

i was wondering about how reason will interact with the mpc. is it possible to use the sounds off the racks on reason and sequence them through the mpc like a hardware module through midi?

somewhat. U have to use both in a way. Like do the drummachine on the mpc, then record the data inside of reason, then do the rest of the sequing thru there. at least thats how i been doing it.

output on your soundcard to the input on your mpc(threw a AUDIO WIRE) and midi output from the keyboard your triggering the reason sounds with to midi in on your mpc.

i would think that would work i plan on going about this the same way because i just picked up some reason refils and downloaded the reason demo just to use its nnxt or what ever you call it in some of my mpc sequence's

could any body vouch for my procedure?

uh i told u allready. U control reasons drum machine with the mpc. U make a seq on there then record the midi note data into reasons sequncer, then u use reasons sequncer for the rest. It can only use 1 midi channel to control a device at time. so say midi channel 1 would control the drummachine, the sampler, the synth, so u cant seq it all at once with the mpc. u could sync up the mpc to reason and just keep layering over the same midi track for diff insturements. so have all the data being recorded into reason, while the mpc is keepin up with it.

i have a reason demo i dont plan on sequencing in it
just using it as a virtual sound module and its sounds in my mpc sequence

no. thats what i tired to explain. U would have to use another host, like ableton live to rewire reason thru it. then u can do it like that.

i can sample in to the MPC ,with the REFILS from REASON or audio from my computer or VST'S JUST SAMPLE IN TO MY MPC
with my AUDIO OUT ON MY soundcard 2 my INPUT ON MY MPC
so anything coming out of the pc will be sampled in to my MPC
but as far as the MIDI notes wouldnt me hooking up the Output from the midi controller to the midi input on my mpc recorded the MIDI (NOTES)

it should be possible ive seen it done im just not sure as far as recording the midi (notes)

yeah u could sample it, but idunno why u would bother. Try it when u get ur pc back wiht the mpc synced to it. That was real easy to me and i banged out tracks fast. what ur talking about seems pretty timeconsuming.

yea im deff gonna see whats up i was just asking because it was my only source of going about it to my knowledge but any easier away around it would be better ,but considering most of my trax are OrG composed and i tend to add alot of isntruments to my tracks i dono if the sampling time would keep up

haven read this post fully but how I use reason, is by mostly just messing around with the sequencer to make some decent synth melodies then when i have it the way i want, I IMPORT it TO WAV, its the easy menu function when u click FILE.

then load it up on the mpc.

or drums and stuff i do the same or hot sample it withing the pc to soundforge then play with it there and save as WAV, never do I have to use leads. When I used to use the 2000XL i would bus it through the mixer to the rec in of the mpc and sample it from there.

yes you can use reason as a sound module. that is one of the beauties of reason.

- go to EDIT -> PREFERENCES
- go to ADVANCE MIDI from PAGE (set it up to recieve data from the mpc)
- create a few instruments
- go to the sequencer
- double click on the track under the IN (in the heading)
- play your pads

reason is a great program, people do not like reason because they do not understand it. i have had reason since version 1 and just got the 3.0 upgrade and have not scratedh the surface of the program. reason is not like the mpc where you can turn it on, load sample and play. reason is a simple but complex program but if you spend the time to learn you will need no our synth, sampler or tone module. period. word to mother. etc

again this is not a hardware vs software convo but reason is a very serious program. period.
