any good dig spots in PARIS? or MADRID?

im goin out to paris, france and madrid, spain for spring break. does anybody know ne good spots out there. i would greatly appreciate it, as i dont go to paris or madrid very often...and i want some music that isnt available in the states...

if you down to barcelona i know some spots--- theyre a lot harder to find in spain apart from the reissue shops honestly

what is so bad about reissues? i see everyone bad mouth them like they're the worst when it comes to wax...if the music is the same, what is the fuss?

since you asked: imo, theres simply more pride in going out and finding the original rather than buying the reissue on ebay..i do own some reissues and im not gonna lie and say i never sample them..however, i only did that to buy a few things i knew i was never gonna find in my town that i really wanted to sample when i was startin out, such as Skull Snaps and Baby Huey and ish like that..now i just dig and use what i find w/o buying those classic re-issues..many popular records have been issued many times so you gotta go to the book and see what the things to look for are to find out if you have an original or not...Its reall all for braggin rights..
also its to keep the integrity in the music we make and having a little extra pride in your work keeps your standards high...whats next? jackin snares of primo beats? yikes.
Another thing to think about if its a recent reissue aimed at the beathead-samplist its been used allready and if you use it w/o much disgusing of those familar sounds your gonna get clowned..

with that said i have used my reissued skull snaps record for the drums on many of my beats..but you bet i filter and layer those sounds diferently each time i use em to get q different sound..

i think it really comes down to respect for the artform..

there's a pretty cool bookstore/record store on st. michel (latin quarter) in paris. i forget the name of it, but it's at the bottom of st michel, sort of near the fountain. it's a small little store, not the big red one (boulinier, which is also kinda nice but mostly has bargain bin junk), but about half a block down...there's this little bookstore. and the basement has all sorts of cool soul/funk and a lot of music from west africa you won't find in the states. pricey, but good.

Yo Issues!

Watch Paris on a map, then see then draw a small circle in the middle of the city... this small "village" is called "Châtelet", also called "Châtelet - Les Halles", "Les Halles" because there is a vilage under this place, underground.

Through Chatelet u gonna find a lot of record stores, hip hop and electro, but don't lose time cause they are expensive. Walk through the streets u gonna find a lot. Then u gonna find second hand record stores, here u go.

Then walk to your right, until u see a small place, with a fountain, after this place, take the first street on the left, then search and u gonna find a second hand record store... U can go on that way after diggin that store, but just one street cause after u in the gay distict...



In "Les Halles", there is a "fnac" at floor -2... the fnacs are the french Virgin Megastore, there are Virgin Megastores too in Paris... go to the fnac, there are a lot of things, but no oldies, reissues only. There a fnacs all over Paris.

Also, u can go the ghetto way. On a Saturday, Sunday , or Monday. Take the metro 4 to the Terminus "Porte de Clignancourt", then follow the people, u gonna cross 2 or 3 streets and u will be in the "Marché de Clignancourt". This is an very large outdoor market. People's used to go there to get less expensive clothes. The 15 first minutes u gonna walk u will only see clothes and shoes stores, then u gonna hear music and u gonna see the dancehall and hip hop stores, the go on walking and u will be in the second hand part of it, here are the records. Get your eyes open: Clignancourt is a crowd place, beware or pickpockets.
