Man do yourself a favor and get rid of your MPC is it rocket science to guess that you won't get any help from people that you call azzholez ? as you say don't bother, you're hopeless.

I have tried going from the MIDI OUT of the ASR-X to the MIDI I of the MPC. Then I went back from the MIDI OUT A of the MPC back into the MIDI In of the ASR-X. When I go to the MIDI window in the MPC, I don't see any signal from the ASR-X, but when I go to the sample window in the MPC I can play sounds triggered from the ASR-X. All I need to know now is how do I record my sounds from the ASR-X right into the track that I'm creating in the MPC? I hope that makes sense know.

I don`t know but here goes.

Midi basics.

Asr 10 sound module or sequencer?

4k sound module or sequencer?

Which will be your master and the other the slave?

A midi cable in great condition.

The manual on the ASR10 and 4k.

Understanding of midi outs and midi channels

Local off on the keyboard.

And a most important an audio mixer.

First connect your keyboard and your 4k to the audio mixer to listen to your sounds. Next decide which gear Asr or 4k will be the master. If want to have the 4k sequencer set it as master by connecting a midi cable to midi out A or B to your ASR midi in. You can connect the ASR 10 midi out to 4k midi in A or B if you want to use the keyboards keys to play but it is not necessary if you are only using the pads. Make sure to go to your keyboards Global page and set the midi function to local off (which will keep you from retriggering the midi notes and making a midi cycle). Next go to main page on the 4k go to the track block and down to Out1 Part and change Part to Out A (which is midi out A from earlier) check the midi window to ya right you can now record midi notes to the tracks that will be send out of Midi out A, B, C, or whichever one you have connect your midi cable too. Play and the keyboard should be set to midi in channel 1 thru 16. If your keyboard is multitimbral you can have different program set to different channels bass channel 2, drms channel 10 and etc and record them to different tracks on the 4k. Just remember to set each track on the 4k to the channel of the instrument you want to play. Hmmn there is alot more but it isn`t very difficult to do once you learn please check the newbie bible or get a basic guide on midi. It is in the users manual and read carefully and slowly about Out 1 field on pg 21 on the top section 6 for the destinations for the track.

Now my last piece of advice you have to learn what the terms mean on the 4k that is the key to understanding the manual. Most of us spend a great deal of time and effort to understand the gear, terminlogy, and science behind a Z8 sampler. If you don`t have the time or find it to timeconsuming to learn try something else. The key is to learn what you don`t understand. Midi isn`t hard and the 4k midi is the same as other midi instruments but you have to learn midi. Set out the links I sent and a download the reference manual from Akai.

If you have no time to learn we can tell you but you wont understand.

Peace out

Newbie bible and sampler basics. :D

i am a veteran producer- john dillinger- did many tracks on many albums to include the young D boyz, funky aztecs, spice 1, big mountain and many others in the golden era of beat making late 80's-early mid 90's...
back then there was no internet or a board like this...
the question this new guy is asking is reasonable and folks should not respond unless they planning to provide info that is helpful all that tryna tell someone to come this or that aint helpful, build confidence rather than clown, especially all y'all producers out there from this new school that think they legends in they own mind
you aint gonna lose no ground helping the next cat out, rather you salt the game when you know the answer and hide behind the facade of an expert...
i remember tupac being in my spot in vallejo before he came up with pee wee from richmond and others asking all sorts of questions some might think stupid or irritating, but we put or minds together and made it work, none of us knowing what any of this ish meant or whatnot.
be true to the game for life, most y'all will never make a hit record or be in the game, but you can nice up the vibe trying or be a buster being bitter, ya dig?
one love from vallejo where we do real hip hop AND bay mob music AND alternative thangs as well
sincere, john dillinger

god how annoying is that,

i wish guys like you don't show off with their resume for a start, thinking that somehow they are more respectable than everybody else, ...

+ i don't really see the purpose of that patronising lecturesince MPCVirgin has been answered largely on his question.

give us a break ya dig mr dillinger ?

yeh man i agree wiv that there.

wat tracks did u do for spice and the funky aztecs?

Byjahguide Wed Mar 16, 2005 1:56 am
specific to the aztecs, 'old school feeling', 'chicano blues' connections' and others that are sitting on 2 inch reel to go on a greatest hits 2 cd volume along with the track they did with tupac before he started to shine, ' salsa con soulfood' - thier manager was a trip like ost folks in the music business of this era, this was a time where the technjology of an artist's personal website and control to make their own cd's wasnt around or very limited, everyone prayed for the vague record deal in the sky....

the tracks with spice 1 and many other bay rappers including DRE-RIP are sitting on 1 inch tape, they will end up on a rare tracks cd someday soon. it took DRE's death for the buster azzzz local radio folks to galvanize and finally play local music.

on the true hip hop tip, during the 1992-1996 era of classic smoked beats ala dj premiere and others, there was a group called 'chilee powdah and dj ammbush- they were as knocking musically and lyrically off the hook as the east coast counterparts, gangstarr and others, problem was A&R folks were stuck trying to define the bay sound as too short and e-40, more of the mob/player music. but souls of mischief, del, and many others were doing thei own thing and the west was actually doing multiple styles of hip hop- too bad the unity was out of sight..

Andre hicks though, mac dre, a true soldier from the V, kept on doing albums before, during and plenty more after his incarceration in the federal prison down in Lompoc,. i got tracks as well as Kayree and rob ferguson, soo many tracks with dre rapping to neo soul type beats before neo soul came out!

it goes deep, y'all help everyone and anyone, you never know how many enemies this music has until you done spent money on equipment then put your money where your mouthpiece is and try the record label game and lose some, then you true, ya dig?

one love john dillinger aka jahguide

What's with all the retarded writing?Zs for plural?Gangsta induced
trash talk for pseudo street cred?
Please drop the ghetto and use proper writing form and spelling-
Maybe you're having touble with your manual because it's not written
in your native ghetto tongue?
peace out.......Yaal

yo virgin.

It seems you have the midi hooked up properly.

Are you just trying to hear what your asr is playing?

if so, you should give a mixer a try. If this is not an option, you can plug the audio cables from the asr into the input of the mpc. To hear your asr, you will have to be in the record page, with inpust set to analog..

you really su;dn't give up on the mpc. It is truly womdeful. I used to have an asr-x, I loved it. Once I got the mpc, I never looked back.

If you can't handle this simple task,

MATBE YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO YOUR TOYBOX!!!
