Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By vincent waters Mon Mar 14, 2005 4:43 am
i was going to either get a mpc 2000 or 1000
but i heard the 2000 sucks ,is it true that you can only assign 1 sample to 1 pad?and when you sample in to a mpc can you hear the drum track ? while sampling ?like lets say i played my cheap keyboard sounds in to a mpc and i already have drums layed out can i sample me playing the keyboard and hear the drums while sampling? whats so bad about the 2000 regular one not the XL one

It doesn't suck, at all actually. How many samples per pad do you want?

Sampling while playing your sequence is something the 1000 can do.

The 2K is an awesome piece of gear.Alot of cats prefer the 2Kxl bcause of timestretch and a few more featues it has over the 2K.Features that can be done via software also. The 2K is a beast, and it won't cost as much as the 2Kxl.

Not sampling, but with midi you can do it, and I would prefer to do it that way personally, but it is a hot feature of the 1k, I just wonder how well it works.

It's called midi. it's the M in MPC.

I see a lot of reading in both your futures ;)

can you explain how the setup will go about ?
im aware of how midi workds ..and MPC midi production center yes lol

but how would i go about using my sounds in cubase/vst in a mpc 2000 or 2000xl sequence ? would it be midi output on my soundcard OR ON MY KEYBOARD? and and audio out on my soundcard? to midi in on a MPC and audio in ? thats what i read in another thread but i dont know how it goes...i just wanna know what to expect when i decide on my purchase

thanks

Yes, you have a lot of reading to do. But cheer up, you can do what you're after.

Ok so i purchase a 2000 or xl i will be able to record(vsti) sounds over sequenced drums if i do it all threw midi ?
you saying i need alot of reading to do but have not directed me to know links or sources i should check out? im aware how midi works but the connection between the 2 devices in order to play vsti sounds from cubase in to a sequence with a MPC is where im left stranded. :?

If you know midi like you say it should be pretty simple. I was able to connect my yamaha psr to my mpc and I don't really know shit about midi.

"Im aware of how midi workds .."
"but i dont know how it goes.."

So which one is it? To know or not to know?

i am aware how midi works but not in this situation.
i want to use the sounds that are in my computer though like NOVATION BASS STATION VSTI and some vst's that are in cubase but i wanna play the sounds over drums that i sequence on a MPC :D
