ive been thinking about this too though, i mean, look at snoops and neptunes new tune drop it like its hot.

i mean, if i put that beat out and said "hey girlfriend, what do you think about this beat" she would laugh in my face or say, its not that hot. So sometimes it has nothing to do with complexity or whatever, but more so the whole picture; and that song as a whole, is nice, and pretty unique(even thought the production litterlly is something a monkey could do)

you also gotta give creidt to those who think of something first-even if its lame.

yes thats kinda what i stated to the kanye hater about 3 posts ago. Its the vision that accompanies the beat that makes u a producer. ur overall input, this is what makes neptunes,dre,kanye hot because they have actual input to how the song goes and its easier to sell beats even wack ones when u can convince the corporate monkeys in suits that ur shit is hot and they need to jump on. Perfect example of this is the jay'z the black album documentary, kanye and pharell went in there actually setting the whole scene up and selling the vision to jay'z instead of heres a beat have fun. anyway thats my take on it.

I don't know who the best producers are. But MY heroes are Large Professor, DJ Premier, The Rza, Pete Rock, and Prince Paul (Hip-hop wise). I think Alchemist and Madlib are headed in the same direction, but they just havent been in the game long enough. And that's one thing for all you underground producers to think about.

To tell you the truth, I think Kanye's so called "style" is very similar to the Rza's the way he uses the repeating voice samples to make it sound almost like a broken record just playing over and over again. Especially on the "Dreams" song. I can also compare some of Kanye's beats to the Alchemist's beats the way he uses the voice sample and speeds it up to sound almost like Alvin and the Chipmunks. I don't like to hate on people but Kanye West is a cocky motherf***er. Hell, even Sway said it...or Tech...one of the two on the Wake-Up Show one night. He called him "Kanye Cocky West", his exact words. I do like the joint he did with Talib Kweli though, "Good To You". I actually think that was the first song I had ever heard that was produced by him. ((I)) don't think Kanye is as dope as everyone makes him out to be though. Kanye this, Kanye that, Kanye so crack. "Jesus Walks"??? You wouldn't catch me bumpin that in the car ever. It's a terrible song if you ask me. But that's just me. A lot (and I mean a lot) of people would think differently. And most of them don't even know what an MPC is.

Ok lets get one thing straight.....I'm not a Kanye Hater. not that it really matters. I just think the guy needs to humble him self. Before he wears him self out. I'm sure he wants to be doing what he is doing for a long while. Anyway his music is just like everyone else I know personally that fusk with samples, we all have the same love old joints and fusking with em. I just get mad when his name is all over my computer screen like he some God, he aint he just some next bruddah from chi town getting his time to shine.

Even the greatest producers got their inspiration from somewhere. I think it's funny when people think they're just so creative, as if they created something entirely by themselves. To do that you would have to have no knowledge or experience with music whatsoever. You'd just have to come up with everything (the concept of music, all the genres that lead to hip hop, etc) out of thin air. Even then, you'd only come up with that based on your experiences and previous knowledge taken from mankind as a whole. We all get our knowledge from somewhere so we're all "biters". I don't want to worry about what Kanye is doing, if he's a cocky loser so be it. If he can actually make beats then good for him. If he stole something then he has to live with it every time he lies but inside he knows he didn't really do it, not me. I'm gonna worry about myself. I have my own morals and even if someone proves that what Kanye West did was completely wrong there's still the person who says up is down regardless of the facts.
