Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey y'all,

I've been dumping tracks to protools through my digi 002 and have found the process of dumping 15 tracks a pain in the ass, and very time consuming. I have never used the digital in's and out's on the mpc. Can I dumping using the digital outs to the 002 using the 002's digital in's and outs? If so, is this faster than assigning pads to the line out's?

Ultimately, I want to know if theres a more user friendly way of dumping tracks from the mpc using the 002.

Since I haven't figured out how to program drum kits and such in pro tools, I am trying to get my money's worth with the 2000XL.

Another Question,

Once I've programmed a drum sequence, can I alter individual kick velocities without replaying the pad? Again, my ultimate goal is to tweek each drum sequence so that it is just right using the 2000XL tools, instead of replaying the drum pattern until it's just right.

Thanks y'all. I hope these questions are similar ones to your own so we can talk about it.

Much respect,

Yes

Digital outs are DIGITAL main outs.

Analog 8-out board, 8 tracks at a time.

Realtime, No. You can edit/tweak note velocities and other good stuff in the EDIT screen. You can edit track velocities on the main screen.

Right right, in what screen on the 2000XL do I assign digital out info? Can I only do one track at a time as a digital out? What's your opinion on the pro or con of digital outs as to analogue?

As far as Digital In (to the MPC), I find that analogue signals can be hotter in some cases...U lose the rec gain using Digital (Well I do anyway) so it is what it is

Digital outs on the MPC is the (analogue) Stereo outs in Digital - To sort out your track/pad assignment, hit open window on the mixer page (after selection the desired drum program) You'l work it out when u look at it for your self

You should be reading the manual.
