Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

As far as I can tell, the AkSys software I was using on OS 9.2 is not available for OS X. Is this true?

Yes that is correct, its not out yet. I guess they're too busy making new models like the mpc1000 than finalizing the other models.

For sure, you can use the AK.SYS in Classic mode.

wierd... ive seen mac heads complaining about this alot. Is there anything you loose when using classic mode? If not I dont really see the need for a "real" OS-X version..

I've never been able to get Ak.Sys to work in Classic mode with my S5000. Is there a trick I don't know about or does it only work with the MPC?

i believe there is an update on the akaipro.com download page that corrects usage with s5000's

as for the classic mode question. os x is a superior platform. better for things to run native in that than to run another platform inside of it. also i beleive running classic slows your machine. because now your essentially running two platforms at the same time.
