Should I get another sampler?

I have been looking around on the net recently and the general consensus seems to be that an MPC 2000XL should be used mostly for beat making and another sampler should be used for the other stuff. Do you all agree? What would be a good sampler to get considering I don't have too much cash laying around? Cheers

What?? You mean if you want a different sound? Like 12 bit sound? Don't worry about a seperate sampler right now. That's my advice.

I think he's trying to say that he thinks the MPC should just be used as a sequencer and he should use another sampler for all his sampling needs. Personally, I think the sampling on the MPC is just fine, but if you insist on getting another sampler, go head.

i'd start with the mpc. and as your needs change add a rack sampler to the setup. youll learn the basics with the mpc and be able to apply them to more advanced samplers as your skills progress.

in saying that the mpc is great for all your percussion, beats, sequences and song arrangements. but if you want to get into multisamples and more advanced modualtion and effects/filters youl need to look elsewere.

Yeah, I was just wondering if I should get a rack or something for the filters and stuff that are lacking on the MPC. Also the samples on the MPC seems to be a bit restricted in how long they can be. Anyway, thanks for the advice.

You can adjust how long you can sample for in the sample screen on your mpc... and if you can't and still find you can't sample as much as you need to, then it's probably because you need more ram.
