Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs

I've been reading a lot of posts on here where cats are advocating use of the MPC filters and what not. I actually see this with ASR's and other samplers too. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you cats out there know what EQ values are represented by the filters on the 2000,3000,60,60II, etc. I actually use them myself to add a little flavor, but it's the usual stuff you know - using the lopass to de-hat my kicks or using the resonance to give hats more crispiness and life. But anyway, my intuition tells me that I could probably replace them with good EQing which I kinda do anyway with the Waves EQ in Protools. So how 'bout it, anyone been able to break this down to science yet?? I haven't seen a comprehensive breakdown in the manuals from what I remember(if they're in there be easy no need to slam a cat over a filter question). Also, besides filtering out highs on kicks and bass, or making hats crispier, are there any other cool tricks these filters are capable of?? Any input or knowledge on the subject is appreciated...

60 has no filters, If you want to check the frequency of each filter setting, self oscillate the filter by using a bit of velocity to filter frequency when the resonance is maxed, using a silent or very quiet sample, and measure the frequency of the filter sound. if you can do this without the velocity to filter freq it would be better, but when I played with hi res 3000 filters I had some velo modulation going on.

Or use the PAZ analyzer in waves.

....of course, a frequency analyzer would break down the filter characteristics scientifically. Aint' got that Waves joint you mentioned, but I'll figure out another way. Thank you sir.

The 2000xl has a 12db/oct filter (2-pole), that can not be pushed into self-oscillation. You can get a 12db/oct slope from many EQ or filter units, but every filter sounds different. The akai filter is not very sophisticated, but sometimes it's exactly what you want. For surgical EQing, the Waves plugin or any other good quality, fully parametric EQ will almost certainly do a better job than the Akai filter.
