the tracks with spice 1 and many other bay rappers including DRE-RIP are sitting on 1 inch tape, they will end up on a rare tracks cd someday soon. it took DRE's death for the buster azzzz local radio folks to galvanize and finally play local music.

on the true hip hop tip, during the 1992-1996 era of classic smoked beats ala dj premiere and others, there was a group called 'chilee powdah and dj ammbush- they were as knocking musically and lyrically off the hook as the east coast counterparts, gangstarr and others, problem was A&R folks were stuck trying to define the bay sound as too short and e-40, more of the mob/player music. but souls of mischief, del, and many others were doing thei own thing and the west was actually doing multiple styles of hip hop- too bad the unity was out of sight..
