did i screw up my mpc?

for a while i've been able to load sounds onto it with a cd drive and zip drive. now it says that no scsi drive can be detected and everything is connected fine. but sometimes when it says waiting it'll take too long and i'll just turn it off and then on, and i think i screwed it up. this really sucks

You might have blown the SCSI fuse.

crap so what do i do

try downloading the latest os again for your mpc and try using that.

make sure the ID on your cd drive is the same as the one your trying load on the mpc.

my zip drive used to do that. but it seemed like it fixed itself. but when i had similar problems, the new os worked for me.

I don't think that uploading a new os will fix that problem, an os does not get corrupt by itself (especially an OS like the one in the MPC, face it it's not like you can add new softs to **** it up ). This really looks like a hardware problem to me either the disk has died on you or you have blown your scsi fuse. But also keep in mind that you should first turn on your external drives b4 booting up your mpc in order for it to recognise the external drives.

i agree w/ pt3r I think that is you're problem b/c i had the same thing happen to me & it was pissing me off.

make sure a disc is in the scsi then turn it on

wait a coupple seconds then turn on the mpc

and try to load a file/folder

That used to happen to me too. Someone told me that you should always turn power on zip drive first before mpc and now i dont have any problems, dont know if its a coincidence but it seems to have worked.

If that sh** skips through SCSI 1-6 in a flash you blew the fuse like some of these other cats said. Lamest thing ever about the SCSI storage is it is real easy to blow that garbage fuse. I don't know which MPC you talkin about here but if it's a 2000 or XL prolly the fuse.

ight it works now, i had no idea you had to turn on the zip and cd drive before the mpc. good thing, cause no way i'd be able to fix it if it broke, i'm not good w/ that stuff . lol, thanks all

To avoid the fuse getting blown NEVER EVER CONNECT OR DISCONNECT AN EXTERNAL SCSI DEVICE WHILE ITS' POWER OR THE MPCS' POWER IS TURNED ON.
